HELP URGENTLY NEEDED! There is a need for two new people to take over the leadership of the cooking project for Serve City. These people plan the menus and do the shopping for the cooking for the Hamilton homeless shelter, which takes place the 3rd Thursday of each month. The leaders also recruit persons to help cook, to bring desserts, and to transport the food to Hamilton. For more information, or to volunteer, call Karen or Ginger Smith or Betty Julian. Without help from you, this project could come to an end. Please give it some thought!
“Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive: The National Letter Carriers urges you to take part in their annual food drive on Saturday, May 10. Place non-perishable food donations by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will pick them up while delivering your mail. All donations go to Shared Harvest Foodbank and are distributed to its network of local food pantries, soup kitchens and other emergency food programs.
Books and Brown Bag discussion group will next meet to choose which books to read for next year on Monday, 12th May, at 11:30 a.m.in the Undercroft. Please think of books you might like to discuss and bring it/them to the meeting with you. All are welcome.
The Oxford Chapter of Habitat for Humanity will hold an information and organization meeting at 7:00 on Tuesday, May 14 in the LCNB Community Room. Please come to hear the latest local Habitat news and to indicate how you will help in planning and constructing new homes. Questions? Contact Mary Melvin, 523-8752.
Oxford Caregivers' Support Group and the Senior Center is planning to recruit and train Volunteer Respite Caregivers in the near future. If there is anyone who would be interested in using a volunteer caregiver to provide respite care (e.g. 2hrs/week) for their loved one, or being a volunteer, please contact Sandra Sebastian, tel: 523-5148 before May 15. On 21 May there will be a meeting of several agencies to decide how to best provide such a service in Oxford. Thank you.
June 1: Several members of the congregation have expressed an interest in going to Westerville to support those parishioners of St. Matthew's who remained loyal to the Episcopal Church when others seceded in protest over the church's consecration of Bishop Robinson in Vermont. These loyalists have been worshipping in the Westerville Fire House while disputes over ownership of St. Matthew's property were resolved by Bishop Bridenthal. These disputes have been resolved, and June 1st is their first day back into their proper worship space. If you would like to go to Westerville to express support and solidarity with the loyal people of St. Matthew's in worship on June 1st, please tell Susan Kay of your interest (and make sure she writes it down). We'll figure a time for departure from HT later. Also, if you are willing to drive, please make that known as well.
Annual Parish Picnic: Sunday, June 8, from 9 a.m.-1:00 p.m., in Pfeffer Park.
Kroger Cards are available from Judy Shaw and Linda Church. $2.50 each.
Coming in May. Bishop Breidenthal will make his first visit to Holy Trinity on Pentecost Sunday, May 11, confirm/receive those candidates are currently preparing for this event.
Volunteer needed: Does anyone have an hour to an hour and a half a week to help the Family Resource center? They receive far more clothing than they can use. The excess goes to Goodwill in Hamilton. There is no lifting involved. Helpers at FRC load the trunk and back seat and a Goodwill worker unloads. For more information talk to Bonne Brown (523-2204). Since she is moving the beginning of June, a replacement is needed.
Holy Trinity Pantry: We continue to need toilet bowl cleaner, dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, toilet paper and paper towels. If you haven't time to shop but would like to contribute somehow, some cash or a check (made out to Holy Trinity with “pantry" in the memo line) would allow us to do the shopping to maintain the inventory. As always, thank you for your generosity. Geoff and Judith.

5/8: Bulletin for Sunday 5/11 (Bishop’s visit, Pentecost, Confirmation and Reception)

RECTOR’S RAMBLINGS for April, 2008:
A hearty Thank you to the Pattersons and all of you who supported the mission trip fundraiser at the Uptown Café on March 15th. By the time Holy Trinity’s mission team arrives in the Dominican Republic this June, we will have been working on the trip for almost two years. During Holy Week Dr. Michael Dohn called from the Dominican Republic. He and I discussed a charla on dental care, oral health, and nutrition for about 140 HIV/AIDS patients and 60 health professionals, aides, and caregivers.
Under the able coordination of Michael and Anita Dohn, Bob Burnard, and Liz Harlan, the rest of us will help with participants of all ages, including children. After the educational component of the day we will share teeth-healthy snacks and have a mini-fiesta! Please be sure to be at church on Sunday, June 15th, when our mission team members will share their experiences during the sermon time.
Plan also to be with us on Pentecost, May 11th, when Bishop Breidenthal will be at Holy Trinity—his first visit here. Keep those who are contemplating or planning their confirmations that day in your prayers.
We continue to live and move and have our being in the season of Easter, giving God thanks for new life and finding ways to extend God’s new life to others. May you and yours be particularly blessed during this most holy season!
+Karen
Thank you also to Kathleen Carels for coordinating the Easter Vigil liturgy, Sally and Jack Southard for coordinating the Easter brunch, and ALL who made our Easter celebrations meaningful, beautiful, and soft.
+Karen
