EXTRAORDINARY LETTERFORMS

My name is David Ogden and welcome to my homepage. During a college art class I was introduced to calligraphy and had a little success with some decoupage projects. Fifteen years later my wife Debbie presented me with a calligraphy pen for Christmas and I decided to see what I could learn with it. I self-studied for about a year and a half, then joined the Greater Cincinnati Calligraphers Guild. Since that time, I have studied with Martha Ericson, Sheila Waters, Julian Waters, Carl Rohrs, Thomas Ingmire, Michael Kecseg, Tim Botts, Peter Thornton, Suzanne Moore, Bill Lilly, Mike Gold, and Judy Melvin.
I specialize in wedding envelopes and other small commissions. Here are some samples:
This envelope is done in script, a popular style for weddings. This can be done in any color. You may consider this small piece of artwork a gift of appreciation to those on your guest list.

Here is a sample of italic writing. Italic is a beautiful style which originated in 16th century Italy. Any color can be used here also.

Another pointed pen sample done in a modified Spencerian script.

This is a piece I did while on vacation in Arizona, where I lived for three years. This was done entirely in Zig calligraphy markers.

This "one-off" envelope was done for my friend Bill Lilly of Columbus, Ohio. Bill is a master script writer, a graduate of the Zanerian School of Penmanship, and an enshrinee of IAMPETH Hall of Honor...in short, an awesome talent. Bill also makes beautiful pens for scriptwriters. Here are some samples...
He can be contacted at swlilly@aol.com or you may click on the link below to be taken to his webpage:

Here is a beautiful bird flourish done by Bill in the classic style of the early 20th century.

This is a sample of Bill Lilly's incredible flourishing skill. Bill has just published a book on his script and he has a fine instructional video on script writing. Contact him for details.
