Cemetery Clean-up for Dedication
Saturday, August 14, 2004

I want to thank everyone who has ever volunteered to help clean-up and maintain the Old Wesleyan / Finneytown Cemetery over the many years of its existence. No one has owned the cemetery for  a very long time, and thus the reason and need for volunteers to help keep it looking respectable.

I have read articles over the years how local boy and girl scout troops have taken initiative to clean the cemetery, as well as neighbors and other individuals who, out of simple kindness or respect for those buried there, have followed suit.

THANK YOU!

Some helpers hard at work picking up sticks, twigs, rocks and raking the grounds.

After the new headstones were pinned, helpers decided to upright the wives headstones of E.W. Finney and David Sprong. The helpers decided to upright all the footstones as well.

Clearing the maple tree seedlings and other growth around the Finney and Sprong families stones.

Preparing the base for Rachael Finney's headstone.

The helpers came in all sizes and ages. This is Lilly doing her part. She was determined to level the area.

Helpers uncovering a buried headstone.

This is the Young Marines cleaning crew consisting of: Young Marines, staff and parents who helped on Saturday, August 14, 2004.

THANK YOU!
