David Sprong (1763 – 1842)

David enlisted as a private at 13 years of age in the 4th regiment of Albany County, New York militia, under Colonel Kalliane Van Rensselaer, Captain Nicholas Star's Company. Second Van Rensselaerwick Battalion. He served 5 years from 1776-1781.

David Sprong bought of Henry and Ann House, 150 acres for $600, on November 17, 1800 in presence of Ebenezer Ward Finney and John Mercer. A year later, David bought 320 acres in 1801 from Ebenezer Ward Finney, and wife Rachel for $500 and on that tract he build a large barn for his farm. David and Rachel’s son, David, Jr. built a house on North Bend Road in 1865, which still stands today at 701 North Bend Road. The original fireplace complete with cooking crane is still intact.
