Szyhmkr: TOPIC: "How not to disappoint the customer"
Bridal1: So someone start and we will all follow
Szyhmkr: Is Pwd coming on tonight?
Bridal1: I bend over backwards for all my customers
Bridal1: What would you all do if you thought a customer
was disappointed?
Szyhmkr: Bridal, do you work out of your home, or in
a shop?
Bridal1: Out of my home - I also have a bridal shop in
home
Szyhmkr: Do whatever it took to make it right for them.
Do you do primarily wedding cakes?
Bridal1: What if a customer called and said "I got home
and don't like what you did to my cake?
JWGPKG: What about the really difficult customers --
the ones you can't make happy no matter what?
Bridal1: No, I do all kinds of cakes Szy.
Simdelish: i had one client i never heard from after,
sent her a thank you as always, still no word she wanted much more than
she would pay for, so I guess I don't feel bad
Gigimama: I haven't had that happen, yet. I'm dreading
when it inevitably does.
L2jlu2: Bridal- that's hard. Maybe apologize, and
ask what they didn't like
Szyhmkr: I have not yet done wedding cakes, and luckily
that has not happened to me
J L B 639: I had one of those calls and I tried to find
out what they expected and where I failed to meet that
Bridal1: I had a birthday cake recently - seemed to like
fine until she got home and then called and complained. I apologized
and she was still unhappy, so I told her to call Price chopper the next
time and they could make her happier
Szyhmkr: I guess that is where the meeting w/the bride
beforehand comes in very handy
Gigimama: Bridal, is this the one that hit your tree?
Bridal1: Yes, that's the one Gigi
Bridal1: Yes, she hit tree with her car and then she
didn't like the cake!
Minna111: Bridal, when they tell me they can get it cheaper
somewhere else I tell them......
Minna111: "they know what their work is worth!"
Szyhmkr: geez, a double whammy
Gigimama: Be organized and plan ahead!
GOOO8: Yes, I am totally invigorated at the thought of
learning MORE
Minna111: How many are ICES?
J L B 639: ices for 1 year
Szyhmkr: hit your tree??/ with her car??
Simdelish: what??? hit your TREE???
Bridal1: Not many "older" ICES in here Minna - you and
me"
Szyhmkr: I have not yet joined ICES, but plan to
Minna111: so where are all the ICES people, Bride
Simdelish: I’m ices, minna, but only 2nd year
GOOO8: I was advised M's cake is on display at the Orlando
Science Center.
Minna111: I am a charter member
Minna111: who dos foreign techniques?
GOOO8: so you know where I'm going soon.
Szyhmkr: Mercedes work is fabulous
Minna111: who is "M?"
J L B 639: anyone go to convention? I learned a lot!
GOOO8: M is Mercedes
Szyhmkr: I get ACD, and love to see her work
Simdelish: thanks minna, what a terrific bunch of people.
Minna111: Sim did you go to the sing-a-long on Sat night
after banquet?
Lizzzie P: I Thought it was the best convention yet!
Minna111: The old ones were so much better, less people,
more friendly and we
weren't trying to outdo each other
Szyhmkr: There never seems to be any kind of cake shows
in So. Cal
Simdelish: paid my hotel and ices fee (95)
Bridal1: Good to see someone is registered for ICES convention
J L B 639: I am about to start with wedding cakes.
Any tips?
Szyhmkr: How long have you been decorating JLB?
J L B 639: and I have decided I want to do it as a business.
I am tired of nursing
Szyhmkr: I did a three tiered 40th anniversary cake,
like a small wedding cake and it turned out nicely
Minna111: I'll bet you are aren't you Bridal
Bridal1: Yes, I am registered for convention. Wouldn't
miss it.
Bridal1: Anyone coming to the ICES Midyear in Kansas
City
Szyhmkr: Bridal, how long have you been decorating cakes?
Bridal1: True, but my poor phone bill is outrageous now
Minna111: NO we have a timeshare at Vistana Resort
Bridal1: Szy, I've decorated 34 years
Bridal1: Did Pwd. ever show up
Minna111: i decorated for 40 yrs, and retired in 1991
Gigimama: I wish I could go!
Minna111: I love the shows, especially the business end
GOOO8: I have not been to a show yet and look forward
to one. I missed the
Orlando Walt Disney ICE
Bridal1: Goo, where are you?
Minna111: GOOOO you’re gonna love it, bring lots of film
Simdelish: we'll hook up in Minn./St. Paul, and have
fun!!!
GOOO8: I'm right here in Orlando Bridal
Minna111: Also sign up for as many demos as you can get
to
JWGPKG: Last year I paced myself with film and finished
up just as I walked out of cake room, then..
Bridal1: And you didn't go to convention????
Minna111: yup I'm a go-getter for ICES members!
Szyhmkr: where is convention this year?
Bridal1: It's in St. Paul, Minnesota
GOOO8: I learned of it just a few weeks beforehand and
we already had a big party planned at home
Minna111: JWG film is hard to find around the show
JWGPKG: I got lucky - cost plenty, but well worth it!
Minna111: Bridal, lets have a booth and sell films and
throw away cameras
Bridal1: I've gone since 1977 - missed the first one
L2jlu2: So, Minna any advise for all us decorators starting
out?
Bridal1: Quit what??
Szyhmkr: why Minna?
L2jlu2: Quit? Why you did it for 40yrs? Wasn't fun?
Minna111: Bridal, I have no fun money now I dont do cakes
Bridal1: Yes, Mercedes is indeed an artist
JWGPKG: I ran into Mercedes work of art! I freaked
- ran over to hotel to find more film!!
L2jlu2: Does Mercedes ever teach in NY?
GOOO8: Also being new to decorating, I had not yet hooked up with you folks online and did not realize what I was missing out on. :(((
CarolA5238: Bridal, Do you think Pwd's having trouble
getting on?
J L B 639: minna, now there's a business!
Szyhmkr: She must be held up somewhere
Bridal1: Carol, she must be. I saw her online earlier
today, but didn't talk to her
Minna111: I tried to get on since 5 PM and just got on
about a 1/2 hr ago
GOOO8: I got an email from her earlier today as well.
Bridal1: I haven't had a problem getting on
Minna111: I got on 7 times and didn't even get a chance
to read my mail & got bumped
Gigimama: I think we should go ahead and start the topic
Bridal1: Shall we just chit chat or do you want to try
discussing something as I am not prepared to lead at all. I'm a good
fill in to help, but not got anything prepared
Minna111: Does everyone have a good price chart &
are you prepared when a customer approaches you?
Bridal1: Anyone got any wedding gowns back to the 1900's??
J L B 639: this is my first time to the chat. what
is the usual format?
CarolA5238: We having some bad weather here in San Antonio
wonder if she’s got it too?
LauraJMD: I need tips for making royal roses.. large quantity..
how/where to let them dry??
Szyhmkr: I use egg cartons to let flowers dry
Minna111: first of all, Laura, don’t beat your royal
on high, and get it full of air
Minna111: I dried mine on a cookie sheet
LauraJMD: thanks for the tips
J L B 639: minna, the price part is difficult, any suggestions
Bridal1: I dry roses on cookie sheet, Laura
Cindycake1: I just finally opened my new cake shop this
week.
Minna111: I was getting 1.50 per serv when I quit in
91
Szyhmkr: congrats Cindy
J L B 639: congrats cindy
Bridal1: Congratulation Cindy
Simdelish: wow cindy!!! great!!!
JWGPKG: Good luck, Cindycake!
GOOO8: Congratulations Cindy
Bridal1: Where are you Cindy?
Szyhmkr: where is your shop Cindy?
Cindycake1: Thank you. I am in Terre Haute, IN
CarolA5238: Good Luck Cindy!
J L B 639: how long have you been decorating, cindy?
Simdelish: what's your main thing cindy?
LauraJMD: Cindy.. shop in your home?
Minna111: No i didn't see it Bridal
Bridal1: So, Cindy, will you do pastries, etc.
Cindycake1: I haven't dealt too much with pastries. But
I love fondant, and gumpaste
Simdelish: cindy, do you teach, just sell cakes, pastries..
Minna111: I have a super hint
MandM19848: hey i am looking for a couple of cookie recipes
Use cellophane paper instead of waxed paper on your nail, and you can use
it for a year!
Bridal1: I like doing my business at home - not having
to be open all time and get to leave when I want
TupperTeri: Hey, Kim
Cindycake1: I've been playing around for about 15 years.
My husband redid our garage.
Cindycake1: I hope to get enough business to start stocking
supplies
Anya1690: I haven’t been able to make a rose i am new
at decorating any tips on making roses
Szyhmkr: roses just take lots of practice Anya, then
one day, it will seem so easy
Cindycake1: Don't let your icing get too thin or it will
look sloppy
JWGPKG: Anya, to make an easy start, use a Hershey's
kiss as your rose base. Eat your mistakes!
Gigimama: Anya-icing consistency is the key!
Szyhmkr: I did that too JW
CarolA5238: Anya, have you taken decorating classes,
Wilton has teachers in many areas.
Bridal1: I see by the cake message board that there is
a big variation of wedding cake prices. Did you all see that on the cake
message board?
J L B 639: cake message board?
Gigimama: Yes, prices REALLY vary
OnlineHost: JR94401 has entered the room.
Minna111: Depends on area. they get meganucks in CA
Bridal1: Cake message board is: http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi:id=4131
Gigimama: Prices are high here, too
J L B 639: thanks bridal
Bridal1: Cake message board is great place to ask questions
and give answers if you want
Minna111: I got $10. for 8" 15 for 10"
18 for 12"
Minna111: 25 for 14" 45 for 16" and 60 for
18"
Bridal1: I get $18 for a 9x13
Minna111: 30 for 9X13
Bridal1: I get $1.50 per serving wedding cakes
Szyhmkr: where are you located Anya?
Minna111: I charge. .50 extra for chocolate or other
flavors
Bridal1: That cake chat room is surely slow though compared
to this!
Cindycake1: I get $1.20 a serving for buttercream. More
for fondant and chocolate
Minna111: I got 5.00 a serving for rolled fondant with
gumpaste flowers
Cindycake1: Our town won't pay that much for fondant.
GOOO8: I recently got $25 for a 9x13 Halloween cake and
$25 for an 8" bridal shower cake.
Minna111: 25 for 8" shower cake was a good price!
Minna111: I gave the bride a free 6" decorated like hers
for her to keep
Gigimama: I generally get $30 for an 11 X 15 birthday
cake, $25 for 9 X 13
Simdelish: you guys are great for the ego, i have 35
minimum!!!
Bridal1: Does anyone do the punch and cake catering type
thing?
Cindycake1: I do the punch and mints to match. Catering
is a lot of work!
Bridal1: Catering is lot of work, but good money
Simdelish: but then I’m in a large metro area
Bridal1: Wow Sim, you're in higher priced area
Icing Wiz: Where are you from Minna111
Minna111: I catered for about 5 years, its hard work
when you do cake and flowers and cater
Anya1690: Has anyone seen the football pan from Wilton
how much would you charge for that
Bridal1: The half pan Anya?
LauraJMD: Anya.. I'd charge $15.00 for football pan
Icing Wiz: I never do the football alone it is not much
cake but if I did it alone $10
Bridal1: I'd put the football on top of a sheet cake,
I think
L2jlu2: Anya, I would charge $25 single double $35
Minna111: I used to figure about $5.00 per pound of batter
Gigimama: Anya, I'd charge $20
J L B 639: I have started my prices at 18
Cindycake1: I get $12.00 for a single mix size.
Szyhmkr: The football pan only holds one mix
Szyhmkr: Yes, Bridal, me too
Minna111: I used the mix in a 50 lb bag. I like it much
better
Bridal1: That is where I am JLB
J L B 639: I usually put the smaller character pans on
sheets
Minna111: J L that’s what I did
Minna111: for my last 8 years I did mostly airbrush cakes
CarolA5238: I charge $25.00 for all my characters, except
copyrights, nothing.
Icing Wiz: I charge $12.00 for an 8" if it isn't too
complicated. that is from scratch
Bridal1: Tupper must sell Tupperware?// My daughter used
to sell Tupper, too
Bridal1: I don't do airbrush Minna.
TupperTeri: Bridal, where are you located?
Bridal1: I'm in Missouri - near Kansas City Tuppere
TupperTeri: I am in So CA, Ontario
Minna111: I have done airbrush since 1973 I think I got
it started
Cindycake1: Airbrushing is a lot of fun. I did John Wayne
two weeks ago and they kept it frozen!
Szyhmkr: wish I knew that, I looked hi and lo for it
J L B 639: who uses mixes? from "scratch"?
GOOO8: Those characters are time consuming!!
Szyhmkr: I use mixes, and I doctor them us too
SWTDEL: I won't do a cake for less than $25. Not worth
my time.
Devonpeter: Mixes- perfect every time
GOOO8: I'm in the MIX category.
Bridal1: I'm a Betty Crocker person
Gigimama: I use mixes for basic flavors , scratch for
special flavors, like carrot
Szyhmkr: Duncan Hines
Minna111: I like General foods Yellow mix in 50 lb bags
Minna111: Tastes like pound cake
Icing Wiz: I never use mixes only from scratch there
is much more flavor and easier to ice, no crumbs
TupperTeri: I like Duncan Hines
JWGPKG: I like Duncan Hines.
Minna111: Icing, G.F mix is just like scratch
J L B 639: I have been experimenting with scratch, and
I am thinking it is not worth my time
Cindycake1: I like Pillsbury but the prices have gone
crazy in the stores.
L2jlu2: Duncan Hines for me also
GOOO8: I use D.H. primarily but have a great carrot cake
scratch recipe.
Devonpeter: D.H.
Szyhmkr: When Duncan Hines in on sale I buy a bunch and
freeze them
Bridal1: Can't beat the mixes! Don't tell Jill
that on the cake message board though
Simdelish: I’m scratch only, which explains my pricing
tooo
Icing Wiz: If anyone wants some delicious scratch recipes
I have them e mail me
Bridal1: and don't tell her that you are a crisco buttercream
person!!
Minna111: I think scratch is a waste of time they don’t
care really, if it tastes good
SWTDEL: I use Pills. or D.H.
Gigimama: Don't even mention that name, Bridal!
Icing Wiz: They do certainly care they can mixes from
Publix or Winn Dixie
Bridal1: Gigi, do I detect that you don't like that name??
SWTDEL: Can't say that I do Carol
Minna111: Not to taste like the G.F mix, it is really
just like scratch. I speak from 40 yrs experience. when I changes to mix
no one even noticed
J L B 639: and Icing, I use Crisco "buttercream" and
have been experimenting with others
TupperTeri: I agree Minna
Szyhmkr: Pwd has some great mixes that she doctors up
on the web site
Icing Wiz: When I use real chocolate or real ingredients
the flavor is better
Szyhmkr: the snickers cake is soooo yummy
SkiSprng: ice cream cake is the best
Minna111: Yes, I added a little mace, and vanilla and
less water than mix called for
Gigimama: Minna, som pastry-chef wanna be who thinks
she is gods gift to baking
Bridal1: are Betty Crocker wanna bees - she calls us
VMM124: This is my first time in this chat. Do
you ever exchange recipes?
Minna111: Oh you get them in all phases, just pamper
them
Bridal1: Minna what does the mace do?
Bridal1: Sure VMM
Minna111: It gives it a homemade custardy taste
GOOO8: Question: I've got the numerous icing recipes
off the hosts web sites. Do any of you know if the cream cheese recipe
is good to decorate with as well?
Gigimama: Cream cheese icing can be used for borders,
but gets too soft to do much else
J L B 639: I have had problems with the cream cheese,
slipping off the board
Minna111: In my icing I use 1 part each of ; white vanilla,
butter flavor and almond
Icing Wiz: I'll e mail cream cheese icing recipe to you
later G0008
GOOO8: Great. It's a boss birthday cake so I want
it to be good.
Minna111: Cream cheese icing "wilts" in hot weather or
a hot room
Gigimama: I have decorated with cream cheese, but it
wasn't easy!
Minna111: GIGI it has to be kept cold so makes it very
difficult for a wedding cake
Icing Wiz: I would ice the cake in cream cheese icing
then use regular stiff buttercream for decoration
Gigimama: From now on I'll cover and do borders with
the cream cheese, and do rest in "buttercream"
SWTDEL: Cake message board on Dolores' web sit http://wwwsugarcraft.com
Bridal1: Cake message board is: http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi?id=4131
or you can get off Dolores's site
GOOO8: For those of you who haven't visited the above-listed
web sites, do so, you're in for a treat
Bridal1: The cake message board is my favorite place
to visit - fun to see all the comments
GOOO8: I like to go there, too Bridal. I learn
so much.
Bridal1: Yes, it is a good learning site even for experienced
ones as long as I have been decorating
VMM124: I just happed into this chat room. When is it
on?
Bridal1: Check out the AOL cookbook for lots of all kinds
of recipes
SWTDEL: I loved the tip on the message board about wrapping
your icing in plastic wrap and then putting it in your bag!
Bridal1: Then go to keyword and type in cookbook, I believe.
Forget, I have it in my favorite places
LillyCG: Does anyone have any good cookie recipes?
Minna111: the best choc chip is the Ultimate on the Crisco
can
I have a great oatmeal cookie recipe
TupperTeri: Lilly, what kind are you looking for?
Bridal1: Send it to me Minna - I love oatmeal
L2jlu2: Bridal, how do you get the AOL cookbook?
Minna111: I’ll do it now if everyone is willing
J L B 639: Death by Chocolate Cookies--a great book,
lilly
Bridal1: Are you AOL L2?
LillyCG: Any kind, I need to use it in a book
L2jlu2: Yes, Bridal
Cindycake1: I tried something the other day. Put edible
glitter in your white icing. It looks really coo
Simdelish: does it show up, Cindy?
Icing Wiz: Describe what that looked like Cindy
VMM124: L2 did you get your question answered?
Bridal1: E-mail me later L2 and I will send it to you
if you can't find
Gigimama: Be sure to tell people what the edible glitter
is
Gigimama: Dolores had someone accuse her of getting broken
glass on the cake!
Cindycake1: It doesn't sparkle but it looks like little
dots
J L B 639: if you crush the glitter, it is a more subtle
effect
Icing Wiz: How do you crush the glitter I forgot
GOOO8: Did the edible glitter bleed in the white icing?
TupperTeri: JL, how would you crush?
Bridal1: Are you talking edible glitter - mine sparkles.
I roll it in a plastic bag and crush it rea
Gigimama: crush it between your fingers, through a strainer,
or with rolling pin
Bridal1: real fine and it is beautiful on cakes
J L B 639: in a bag, crush with a rolling pin, then put
in a shaker
CarolA5238: The title for this weeks chat is How Do You
Handle Your Downed
Ego When You Have a Disappointed Customer? Any comments?
Cindycake1: Yes. I tried red for a valentines cake for
the border.
No it didn't bleed, even after it dried for a few days.
VMM124: L2 how do you get the AOL cookbook?
L2jlu2: VMM- Bridal said to e-mail her and she will tell
how to get there
Icing Wiz: I once had a disappointed customer I didn't
take the rest of the $ owed to me
Gigimama: Why were they disappointed, ?
JWGPKG: Has she been back, Icing?
Cindycake1: I did a fondant cake with sunflowers. Customer
wouldn't pay for it because of the shape.
She likes square, not round
J L B 639: In my short time I found that communication
really helps. I am trying to be very specific.
Gigimama: She didn't specify what shape?
Icing Wiz: I had someone help me that day because I was
so busy I had a strawberry filling in a strawberry pie glaze and it was
real hot and it seeped out and I had to go in the freezer for 45 min to
fix cake never happened again I use only mousses and never over fill again
Cindycake1: She didn't say. Only wanted sunflowers.
Gigimama: I use an order form that specifies shape, servings,
flavors, design, etc, fill it out and
have them sign it so they know what they're getting and
can't complain if it meets the order
L2jlu2: Icing - when you use mousse filling, do you have
to keep the cake in the fridge? wanted to do cakes w/mouse filling, but
was afraid - Or can you leave it out? any recipe to share, I always
Bridal1: On your orders over the phone, Gigi, how do
you make them sign?
Icing Wiz: The mousse I make is pretty sturdy even in
humidity it depends how long ususally they take awhile to eat the cake
and I have had no problems want the recipe?
LauraJMD: Hi pwd
Gigimama: That's the only problem Bridal.
GOOO8: Pwd's on
L2jlu2: hello Pwd,
SWTDEL: PWD ! you made it!
GOOO8: Yeaahhh
OnlineHost: Pri95 has entered the room.
Szyhmkr: Pwd, Welcome!!
Icing Wiz: Hi PWD
Pwd Sugar: Hello room We had company tonight
and Time got away from me
L61howell: Icing may I have the recipe too
Gigimama: If they order far enough in advance, I fill
out the form and mail it to them and they mail back with payment
L2jlu2: Yes, Icing, could you please e-mail mew/recipe
Bridal1: We're just chit chatting about cakes Pwd.
Pwd Sugar: I'm fine just senile LOL

Pwd Sugar: Setting in - or taking residence

GOOO8: We thought maybe you were having bad weather Pwd
Pwd Sugar: Would you like me to save the info for another

Bridal1: I think so Pwd. We're just chatting anything

Pwd Sugar: Good - It's nice to know I am not indispensable

Devonpeter: what is the topic for next week?
CarolA5238: Well I looked up the chat and got a few comments,

Bridal1: You'll love them
Bridal1: Is her name JILL????
Minna111: Icing Queen are you ICES?
Bridal1: Oh, sounds interesting Icing
Minna111: you did if it's 10 but we're all still here
Cindycake1: My husband bought me a 12-drawer tool box.
It holds everything!
Pwd Sugar: Join us next week Cindy
Minna111: Cindy, now how long do you spend looking for
things in it?
Cindycake1: I put labels on the drawers
GOOO8: Yes Cindy, do come back...you'll love it.
It's different every week.
Icing Wiz: I'm still wanting to talk cakes
VALRIOS1: has any of you had a seven choc cake, popular
dessert at some rests? seven layer
Bridal1: Let's talk Icing
Minna111: I have an original choc cake recipe that's
just yummy
Bridal1: Sure Gigi, - now what kind do you make - not
that awful Crisco stuff???
VALRIOS1: Minna, i want to make that seven layer choc
cake, but I’m afraid of cake falling apart - any tips?
KLemenager: Does anyone have the recipe for Kahlua cake
- my recipe
Minna111: I think I hae Kahlua cake
Pwd Sugar: I have a Kahlua cake recipe and the recipe
for making the Kaluaha too
Minna111: what do ;you make, Bridal
Minna111: yeh,, that homemade Kaluaha makes a better
cake
GOOO8: I have made Pwd's Kaluaha cake and it was fabulous.
Everyone loved it.
Bridal1: I make Crisco buttercream - go read the cake
message board and you will see what we are rib
ribbing about!
Gigimama: Anyone who doesn't know butter is animal fat
can't be much of a "chef"!
VALRIOS1: if someone wants to share Kahlua cake recipe
with me, Thanks I would appreciate it
GOOO8: speaking of which Pwd, that recipe made a 2 layer
8" I think and a couple of 6's
KLemenager: didn't Crocker change their pudding cake
- it changed the rcp
Minna111: What is the title of the post, Bridal?
Bridal1: I don't care what butter or Crisco is as long
as my customers like it
GOOO8: Do you have a scaled down size recipe?
VALRIOS1: diff box now
Pwd Sugar: Valrios ! E-Mail me and I will send it to
you or anyone else who wants it.
Minna111: No problem, Roland will sing while we eat,
after all we sing while he drinks!
Gigimama: Exactly. I started using Crisco because
I don't like butter. If someone requests it I'll use it.
Bridal1: Minna, send me e-mail and I will send you the
place to go for cake message board
KLemenager: let me find my recipe & I’ll share it.
Pwd Sugar: True Minna
Minna111: OK bride, I'm sure I've seen it, but don’t
recall CRS
Bridal1: Minna, it's the question/answer board that connects
with Dolores' web site
Bridal1: Know where Dolores' site is?
Minna111: OK Bridal
Minna111: yes I do
Pwd Sugar: For the message board just go to Dolores's
web site www.sugarcraft.com I think
Simdelish: pwd, I have a quick ? Roland
is coming here next month forairbrush class
Minna111: Don’t him or Marsha ever come to cake chat
Minna111: I don’t always agree with a lot of her info,
but she teaches, I decorate!!!
Pwd Sugar: Marsha has dropped in a couple of times.
Pwd Sugar: You bet - If you have the opportunity to take
from Roland jump at it
Bridal1: They say Roland is good teacher, but I haven't
taken from him
VALRIOS1: any tips on my seven layer cake, please, before
all bakers leave, Please
Minna111: Sim, I think Carole Faxon's classes are good
to very useful for"customer cakes"
KLemenager: Found my recipe!
Pwd Sugar: He is an absolute practical decorator and

Bridal1: Great buy Cindy!!
Pwd Sugar: Lucky you Cindy
VALRIOS1: any tips, I’m afraid i may fall apart
Minna111: Cindy what a deal!
IcingQueen: Roland’s class is the best!!!!!! I took it
like 10 years ago.
Bridal1: Why are you doing it in 7 layers, Val???
Cindycake1: I'd like to take a sculpture class. Mailbox
News had some in there to drool over
Bridal1: That will really be tall, Val
Minna111: sim, you better take it than don’t miss out
and be sorry
VALRIOS1: what part of USA are you from? never heard
of those classes here only Wiltons
KLemenager: Back to Kahlua cake - in a Bundt pan.
Pwd Sugar: I think I took his flowers and figure piping

Simdelish: ok ok ok, i'll take it!! anybody want to front
the $ LOL
Icing Wiz: does anyone here do Lambeth
Cindycake1: I have original Lambeth book. Got it at a
yard sale for $20.
Minna111: VAL Wilton classes are a open sore to most Professional
decors.
Pwd Sugar: one of the most useful and practical classes
I have ever taken
VALRIOS1: I ate at a rest and the most pop dessert was
a huge seven layer choc cake, i want to copy it
Icing Wiz: I teach Wilton in Naples, Fl
Minna111: Pwd, that’s the one I mean, he calls it the
commercial class now
Bridal1: How thick were these 7 layers?
Simdelish: he & Marsha are both coming and doing
3 or 4 mini classes at night, too
Minna111: CArole & I took it in 82 or 3 and we got
him to join ICES
Pwd Sugar: He teaches things in that class that you can
use all the time
Simdelish: can't do all, but i figure airbrush is most
impt
VALRIOS1: thin layers, Bridal
Minna111: Yes Sim it's very useful and brings in more
$$$$
Pwd Sugar: More like a torte Val
Bridal1: Maybe they split the layers Val
Bridal1: How tall in inches were these 7 layers?
VALRIOS1: choc mousse filling, raspberries on top, fresh
- about 12 inches tall
VALRIOS1: i took a basic Wilton class, and after that
it has been only practice and ts of reading
Cindycake1: What kind of filling did it have?
VALRIOS1: yes, but very tall
Minna111: MMOOR I'm still waiting for no fat recipes
from you!
Simdelish: i made a "7 layer" cake at a rest, it's still
only3-4 inches tall
Simdelish: the layers are very thin
Pwd Sugar: Sounds yummy
Bridal1: Did they cut it all 7 layers as one piece?/
GOOO8: Almost sounds like a black forest cake
Icing Wiz: I have a banana walnut cake in the fridge
MMMOORE2: Really Minna, I sent them a long time ago.
VALRIOS1: Yes, bridal, it costs 7.00 per slice, but enough
for at least four people
Minna111: i didn't get them, would you send them again.
AOL has been giving me problems lately
VALRIOS1: should i use dowel rods
Minna111: Bridal why?
MMMOORE2: Minna, yes I will if I still have them.
Simdelish: absolutely val, for that height
Bridal1: You're one of the 3 Fatskateer, you said!!
Minna111: thanks, MMooe
GOOO8: What about plastic straws instead?
Icing Wiz: what is a fatskateer?
Bridal1: Val, are you transporting this cake somewhere
or just for home?
Minna111: Bridal, Carole is losing wgt, too, she's diabetic
now
VALRIOS1: take it 3 miles away from home, a valentines
treat for coworkers
Minna111: and Nancy had shingles and lost a lot, now
I've put her on cabbage soup diet!
Pwd Sugar: Is that instead of the three Muskateer's.
Cake decorators are
Fatskateer's?
Bridal1: Icing, it's a phrase like the 3 muskateers and
they consider themselves not thin??
Minna111: Pwd, that’s right
VALRIOS1: Goo, thanks i will use plastic straws, thansk
Minna111: Me, Nancy and Carole are the Fatskateers
Minna111: what did I miss Plastic straws?????
Bop Boogie: How are you?
Bridal1: Icing, they are Fatskateers instead of Muskateers
GOOO8: I use plastic straws instead of wooden dowels
on smaller cakes/tiers, etc.
CarolA5238: Did anyone see the pretty cookies on the
cover of Victoria Magazine?
Bridal1: Plastic straws instead of dowels, Minna
Minna111: oh I see, they say you can use fat spaghetti,
too its edible and safe
