DIRECTIONS: You will need a 1-mix cake
baked in the Wilton Wonder Mold cake pan. Cake is placed on a covered
12 inch cake cardboard with tuk 'n ruffle added (ruffle added after
cake was iced). I use a cheap doll and cover the body with foil before
inserting. Use a tiny circle of parchment paper pinned on the head for
a 'hat.' Serves about 10-12 people.
Doll Cake Decorating directions below:
-
1. Wrap the doll in foil over the breast
and down over feet. Add parchment 'hat' now. Insert into cake. Ice cake
with buttercream icing.
-
2. BODICE: Pipe pink tip 2 zig-zag icing
to cover bodice.
-
3. SKIRT: Divide into 5 sections, beginning
at waistline. Have one division mark in center front. Using a #12 decorating
bag, stripe bag with pink icing. TIP: I add the stripe on the seam so
it is easy to find. Starting at waist, pipe 2 rows of tip 2 pink zig-zags
spaced as shown.
-
4. RUFFLES: Beginning at bottom (pipe
bottom ruffle first) of skirt, tip 104 double row ruffle. Next pipe 3 rows
of tip 101 ruffles.
-
5. TRIMS: Zig-zag trims on ruffles are
tip 46. Stringwork is tip 2. Tiny flowerettes are tip 2 and over-pipe tip
1 zig-zag. Tiny leaves are tip 349. The 5 large roses are tip 104 with
tip 352 leaves.
TIPS:
-
Striping: Just turn the tip until the
pink icing is coming out just where you want it to.
-
For striping, I used ICING [not] straight
food coloring.
-
I like the softer effect this gives.
-
I left the green icing not all the way
mixed up so I would get a softer green.
