Joyce's Wedding Cake
HOME | ONLINE CATALOG |
I created and made this cake for my daughter Joyce. Not to be an 'over-bearing' Mother, I consulted her all the way, according to what kind of cake she would like. And also according to what techniques I knew how to use of course! This cake was so huge it barely fit in the back of my station wagon. You can tell how really huge it is by the cake fountain size.

STRINGWORK AND CORNELLI LACE DONE WITH TIP 1 AND TIP 1 CORNELLI LACE UNDER STRINGWORK- their names and wedding date written and intermingled into the cornelli.

Garlands tip 13 and Strings are done with tip 1

The steps are plastic with the side rails removed. Then draped with white satin ribbon.

The church, wings on corners and beside the stairway and hanging lace were made with royal icing strengthened by substituting color-flow for regular royal icing (which dries harder)

Flowers are gumpaste roses, violets, stephanotis with green leaves

Couple I made the couple with gum paste. This took me 2 months. Everything but her veil are gum paste. The groom has a tuxedo with tails and a ruffle shirt. The bride has a hat and tiny gum paste flowers as on her wedding cake only smaller to keep things in perspective.

Stairway is a stairway with sides removed, white satin ribbon added, placed against the cake with royal icing wings on the sides

Fountain sits between (4) 10-inch pillars (with one tier of the fountain removed)

Lace points are royal icing - at base of top square cake, simplistic gum paste pink rosebuds, purple violets, stephanotis, green leaves and white baby's breath according to her personality
