SEMI TRUCK CAKE TO BAKE AND ASSEMBLE

HOME | ONLINE CATALOG | CAKES |

* See the firetruck at bottom of page. Do it in the same manner as the semi.
Bake the semi in the Wilton LONG LOAF PAN using 1 1/2 cake mixes
Cut a cardboard to the shape of the loaf pan. Cover cardboard with foil.
Put the cooled cake on the cut-to-shape foiled cardboard. Cut off a small section as shown (with dashes).
Cut a 1/2" thick piece of Styrofoam a little smaller than the "truck." Place the Styrofoam on a 19x14" sheet cake foil-covered cardboard. Place some icing on top and bottom of Styrofoam for "glue" and set the semi on the Styrofoam.
Add Oreo cookie "wheels." You need 18 wheels placed as shown above.
Add a straw for the "pipe" shown.

Note: I didn't make this cake. But the picture is good so that you can see the details. I do not know who made it. I took this picture at a cake show many years ago. I have made MANY almost like it through the years!

TO DECORATE:
Ice any smooth parts first. (I ice the "windows" smooth - gray (piping gel for shine, if you like), and a place on the side of the truck bed for writing- optional).
Outline in a contrasting color, around windows, etc. using tip #5.
Decorate with the star fill-in method, or as desired. using tip #18 or #21.
Add yellow headlights, red tail lights, decorate the wheels. Add a door handle, tip 5.

OTHER "TOUCHES": I always add green "grass" (tip #233) and our Sprinkle flowers along the road sides. You could also add a black "road" on the 19x14" cardboard, if you like.

Add your message on the bed of the truck.

*Don’t just do "semis.". Other cakes can turn into "fire trucks, cars, mail trucks.

Here is another version of a semi...from Becky R (OH)
She brushed the truck with pearl dust (click highlighted to order) after the icing crusted well. The rest of the directions above apply. Its always nice to see another version for ideas!
