<Dolores7>   You had fun...thats important. Was a wild day. Frances stayed a lot longer than planned - we had a great time.
<BamaBaker>   tiG1...I've been there,  friend of mine lived there.  It's a very nice town
<Dolores7>   Hi Trish...and Dunk
<TrishCA>   hi
<tiG1>   it sure has grown. Maybe you can start a club and I can travel a bit:)
<MarissaT>   dolores, i met you briefly just after bkeith's demo - just outside the room
<Dolores7>   oh...I don't remember...soooo many people!
<Dolores7>   Was sure a lot of fun
<tiG1>   what's on the menu Delores?
<Dunkccc>   Hi all
<BamaBaker>   tiG...that would be nice
<tiG1>   hi Dunk
[CarolAnnTX]   I had a fun time, my sister's birthday is this coming friday so we all celebrated it on wednesday.
<Dolores7>   I don't know, Earlene is doing it...didn't tell me
<MarissaT>   it was just very briefly.
<tiG1>   it would be for me, I don't have anything here:)
<Dolores7>   How's Tammy tonight?
<Dolores7>   club...if you do...check out ny file on cake clubs...may be helpful
<Dunkccc>   OK--I can finally see.  Had an eye exam today and they dialated my eyes so things were blurry for quite a while.
<BamaBaker>   tiG...we're supposed to have a DOS in Oct.  When I get all the details, I'll let you know.  come join us!
<Dolores7>   I'm thinking about starting a cake club here
<tiG1>   oh, please do!!! I'm tG on the board
<Dolores7>   good Tammy
<BamaBaker>   tiG...you should do well in Newnan, from what I understand, there aren't many bakers there.
<Dunkccc>   It's a wonder I got home--should probably had someone drive me home!
<Dolores7>   Earlene is making pearls...and pearls...and pearls, for a wed. cake
<tiG1>   I don't know, I'm head decorator at Walmart, and stay real busy just there, but I want to do my own!!!!
<Dunkccc>   A Walmart superstore?  Didn't know they had cakes.
<Dolores7>   don't have cakes at ours
<tiG1>   Superwalmart, I love it, you can buy milk and panties at the same store
[CarolAnnTX]   That would be fun a cake club of chat talker, we could be the cake chatters of the inter-net!
<Dunkccc>   There's a super Walmart in AR where my mother in law lives--she loves it.
<BamaBaker>   tiG..that's what I meant.  Not too many home decorators....Walmart and isn't it Publix there in Newnan are just about the only places to get cakes
<tiG1>   we have a huge bakery
<TrishCA>   lol.....no super Walmart here, only a Super Kmart
<tiG1>   they're the only good places:) but I'm afraid to advertise!
<tiG1>   I just did a biggy at a huge convention center, hoping for some word of mouth
<Dolores7>   tiG...no need after awhile...word of mouth is better
[CarolAnnTX]   Don't have any cakes at ours either
<Dolores7>   oops...Earlene isn't here
<tiG1>   I'm praying:) and learning a lot from all of you!
<BamaBaker>   tiG....word of mouth has been better for my shop than all the advertising dollars I've spent.
<Dolores7>   word of mouth brings good customers
<tiG1>   mom works at the hospital, I send cakes all the time!
<BamaBaker>   word of mouth also brings the lousy ones in too!  *lol*

<Dolores7>   Yes...I heard...how does he like it?
<TrishCA>   you got me Lynne,,,,good to see ya kid :)
<tiG1>   you can upload them to a geocities site, they allow hotlinking
<Dolores7>   oops...no I don't know her
<MindyMac>   so I copied it from the address thing at the top of the page and then filled in the rest of the address that the properties page had.  Would that be right?
<tiG1>   no, they should be the same
<Dolores7>   bet he won't like all those 16 hour days before long...and not having time to create

<tiG1>   use the addy on the properties page
<Dolores7>   you can't create when you have to work so many hours just to pay overhead

<earleneTX>   PEARLS - PEARLS - PEARLS
<Dolores7>   ok Mindy ;-)...tomorrow morning
<Dolores7>   you'll see them in your sleep
<SandyKS>   what pics are you talking about. I'm lose
<earleneTX>   PEARLS ON THE CAKES SEEMS TO BE ALL THE RAGE RIGHT NOW.  ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE EDIBLE.  I WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ARTIFICIAL PEARLS ON A CAKE.
<Marida1>   Earlene, did you try CK's newest pearls?
<ReneeS>   does edible include the dragee pearls?
<earleneTX>   I HAVE A HORROR OF A BROKEN TOOTH OR SOMEONE SWALLOWING THOSE ARTIFICIAL PEARLS ON A CAKE.  YES SOME OF THEM ARE STRUNG AND THEN HAVE TO BE REMOVED BY THE STRING WHICH ALSO TEARS UP YOUR CAREFULLY DONE TRIMS AND BORDERS.   SO WHY NOT USE THE EDIBLE PEARLS
<Dolores7>   I don't mind the artificial if they are on strings. I tried & can't break those at all.
<earleneTX>   I got them about 2 months before the convention Marida - love them
<earleneTX>   They sent them to me to play with - that 13 mm for borders is wonderful
<KampyCake>   Sandy I think they're talking about the pictures that D. posted on the board
<Dunkccc>   I'm still confused about the dusts they use on the pearls--the dusts are edible?
<Dolores7>   I tell them to give them to the little girls...they'll dance all over at the wedding and have fun
<Marida1>   I was going to buy them but never got over there.  I am doing so many cakes with pearls.  Martha has one with a monogram on it and I am going to use the pearls.  I booked three of those cakes last Thursday.
<SandyKS>   I tried looking for them, where did you hide them Dolores?
<earleneTX>   DOLORES HAS TWO SIZES OF READY TO USE PEARLS  I THINK THEY ARE 4 MM AND 6 MM.   THEY DON¹T REALLY HAVE THE PEARL LOOK BUT AFTER YOU HAVE ATTACHED THEM TO THE CAKE WITH PIPING GEL, BUTTERCREAM ICING OR ROYAL ICING THEY CAN EASILY BE PAINTED WITH A MIXTURE OF LEMON EXTRACT AND PEARL DUST.
<Dolores7>   right Sandy...and Mindy is trying to upload one now too
<earleneTX>   AT LEAST THAT IS FASTER THAN MAKING THEM INDIVIDUALLY YOURSELF.  I HAVE SPENT ABOUT TWO DAYS MAKING PEARLS FOR A CAKE THAT WENT OUT THIS AFTERNOON.  THOSE TWO SIZES WOULD HAVE SAVED ME A LOT OF THAT TIME.
<Dunkccc>   I'm sure you charged for your extra peal work.
<Dolores7>   Earlene...they say to shake these in pearl dust? Never tried
<ReneeS>   do you mean the pearls that are dragees? not silver, but with pearl dust on them?
<earleneTX>   The dusts are non toxic and can be eaten Dunkccc
<Dunkccc>   Ooops again -- pearl
<KampyCake>   I tried to make pearls with fondant and I couldn't stand to sit and do that
<earleneTX>   IT IS A BORING  AND MONOTONOUS JOB - ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU CAN DO WHEN THE ORDERS AREN¹T SO FRANTIC.  I NOW HAVE 13 SIZES OF PEARLS IN CONTAINERS READY TO BE USED.
<Marida1>   Earlene, I tried your method of mixing them up in a jar and it really really works!! Thanks for that tip.
<tiG1>   I made about 20 before I went crazy
<Dolores7>   not dragees...are plain white - and are on my GUMPASTE page at the top...yes pearl dust
<earleneTX>   I MAKE A LOT OF ONE SIZE FROM FLAVORED FONDANT- LET THEM SIT OVERNIGHT - AND THEN PUT THEM IN A CONTAINER WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF THE PEARL DUST.  SHAKE THEM UP GOOD AND THEY COME OUT MAGICALLY LOOKING LIKE PEARLS.
<Dunkccc>   So that means lustre and pearl dusts are OK?  Good to know--I always kept hearing otherwise.

<earleneTX>   a whole 20 tiG1    LOL
<Dolores7>   Hello Helen
<earleneTX>   IF THEY LOOK GLITTERY AND NOT REALLY LIKE PEARLS YOU MAY NEED TO ADD A LITTLE MORE OF THE PEARL DUST AND SHAKE THEM UP AGAIN.   MUCH EASIER THAN PAINTING EACH OF THEM WITH THE PEARL DUST MIXED WITH LEMON EXTRACT.  BUT THAT COULD BE DONE ALSO IF YOU WANT THEM SUPER SHINY.
<Dolores7>   yes Dunk
<tiG1>   earlene, you don't wet them do you? I know, 20 and I was going nuts!
<earleneTX>   Nope sure don't tiG1
<helen_oh>   hi everyone!
<Marida1>   Mine were real shiny, Earlene, and I just did what you said to do with the jar.
<KampyCake>   somebody was using tapioca for pearls, but those are really hard.
<earleneTX>   THE EASIEST WAY I HAVE FOUND TO MAKE MANY PEARLS ALL THE SAME SIZE IS TO ROLL THE FONDANT OUT (NUMBER ONE ON A PASTA MACHINE) OR ABOUT 1/8 INCH THICK
<KampyCake>   Hi Helen O
<earleneTX>   THEN USING YOUR TIPS CUT LITTLE CIRCLES AND ROLL THEM UP IN YOUR HAND AND PUT THEM IN A LID TO DRY.  I START WITH TIPS #8, 10, 12, AND SEVERAL SIZES OF THE TIPS BASES.
<Dolores7>   Dunk...these pearls are fondant and the dusts aren't toxic...just like eating dragees...they aren't food either
<earleneTX>   YOU CAN FIND A PICTURE AND THE SIZES INSTRUCTIONS ON MY WEB SITE FOR MAKING YOUR OWN PEARLS.  I NOW HAVE CONTAINERS WITH 13 SIZES OF PEARLS READY TO BE USED ON THE CAKES.
<earleneTX>   ANOTHER GOOD USE FOR THESE PEARLS IS TO HAVE A SAMPLE OF THE DIFFERENT FLAVORS FOR THE BRIDES TO TASTE OF THE ROLLED FONDANT.  ORANGE, LEMON, ALM
<KampyCake>   I saw those on your web page Earlene - quite innovative
<earleneTX>   OND AND MINT ARE THE FLAVORS I PLAN ON HAVING FOR THEM TO TRY.  WHEN I GET THE TIME TO DO THEM.
<Dolores7>   ...and now you have plenty of experience Earlene LOL
<tiG1>   yep! that's how I did it, and I went nuts!!!! you are a brave soul Earlene
<helen_oh>   hi kampy
<earleneTX>   Lots of experience - booooooooorrrrrring job
[CarolAnnTX]   Doesn't the Air pen make good pearls?
<SandyKS>   someone on D's bulletin board said they purchased pearl dusts or lustre dusts in big quantities. Do you have them in larger containers, D?
<Marida1>   Earlene, do you like doing it that way rather than the mold CK has?
<earleneTX>   COUNTRY KITCHEN ALSO HAS THE WONDERFUL PEARL MAKERS NOW AVAILABLE IN SEVERAL SIZES AND STYLES.  THESE PEARL MAKERS GIVE YOU A STRIP ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG
<KampyCake>   it's called sticktoitiveness
<Dolores7>   Airpen will pick them up I understand
<earleneTX>   Their molds are great for borders - but individual pearls on a cake
<KampyCake>   I would think it would take forever to put them on a cake.  I still like the strings of pearls.  *everyone boo*
<earleneTX>   you would still have to cut them apart and roll them.
<TrishCA>   Yes D, do you carries dust in large quanities?
<Dolores7>   Sandy...let us know the qy\uantity you want. We can get larger containers
[CarolAnnTX]   I saw that, I thought you could make pearls too?
<earleneTX>   AND ARE MUCH FASTER FOR MAKING BORDERS AROUND THE BASES OF YOUR CAKES.  PLAIN ROUND PEARLS IN SIZES 4, 6, 8 AND 13 MM.  OVAL PEARLS, A FACETED BEAD, AND A ROSE PEARL ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.
<Dolores7>   I think so Trish
<SandyKS>   what sizes would you have D?
<Dolores7>   AIRPEN...use that to pick up the pearls to place on the cake...works I think...they showed this in their booth
<earleneTX>   I just ordered a large container of the pearl dust from CK - about $90 and had to pay for it up front.  I did hear that they are now carrying it regularly so you don't have to special order it anymore
<Dolores7>   Sandy...I don't have any idea....sorry
<Dolores7>   Sandy...beads or dusts?
<TrishCA>   I tries that with my airpen....I couldn'y get it to work, the dragee might of been to large :(
<earleneTX>   For the small ones Dolores - It won't work on the large ones
<SandyKS>   that's ok. I just remember someone said they liked the bigger quantities of dust
<Dolores7>   then we'll have it...in large quantities - easy to get
<earleneTX>   I think what you have is 4mm and 6 mm Dolores - those are really small
<earleneTX>   TO USE THOSE MOLDS YOU NEED TO FIRM UP SOME FONDANT WITH PWD SUGAR ADDED TO THE FONDANT OR MIX SOME FONDANT AND GUMPASTE.  IT JUST NEEDS TO BE A FIRMER DOUGH.  DUST THE PEARL MAKER LIBERALLY WITH PEARL DUST AND THEN PLACE A LENGTH OF THE DOUGH DOWN THE CENTER.
<Dolores7>   I thought maybe it wouldn't work on the large. They showed picking up dragees
[CarolAnnTX]   I 'll  have to get the pearl maker have to put many pearls on a wedding cake or two coming up.
<earleneTX>   I PREFER TO MASH THAT DOWN SLIGHTLY AND THEN CLOSE THE MOLD AROUND THAT SUGAR MIXTURE.  THE BIGGER PEARLS OF COURSE TAKE A LARGER AROUND LENGTH OF SUGAR DOUGH.
<earleneTX>   PEARLS SCATTERED OVER A CAKE BY THEM SELVES ARE GORGEOUS.  PEARLS TO ACCENT THE LACE PIECES, PEARLS TO BORDER TRIMS, PEARLS AS BORDERS,  WHO KNOWS WHERE THE USE OF PEARLS WILL GO NOW WITH THE NEWER EQUIPMENT MAKING IT EASIER FOR US TO MAKE THEM AND USE THEM.
<Dolores7>   yes...4 and 6mm
<earleneTX>   I HAVE SEVERAL NEW CAKE PICTURES I JUST HAVEN¹T HAD THE TIME TO GET ON MY WEB SITE - SEVERAL WITH PEARLS.  HOPEFULLY I WILL GET THOSE ON IN A COUPLE OF DAYS.   www.earlenescakes.com
[CarolAnnTX]   Dee, you have the pearl making mold?
<MarissaT>   earlene, do you have to dry the pearls on foam?
<Dolores7>   CarolAnn - yes...on the GUMPASTE page
<Dolores7>   I can't wait to see that!

<KampyCake>   who is the new president of ICES?
<Jean-sgr>   do you all make most of your pearls of gumpaste or fondant
<Dolores7>   don't know her name
<KampyCake>   and who got the awards and why?
<earleneTX>   I delivered a cake this afternoon with an umbrella made from a sugar bouquets lace mold and add some of the pearls for trim.  The cake had toothpick roses, tiny gp blossoms and lots of pearls scattered - you should have heard the women at the bank.  You would have thought they had never seen a cake before
<ReneeS>   i don't know, i was there, but marida was distracting me!
<earleneTX>   NOW DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT MAKING THE PEARLS?  OR HOW TO PAINT THEM OR HOW TO USE THEM?
<Dolores7>   Kampy...people always are honored...and they tell who our new officers are etc...only time we get to see them
<MarissaT>   do you have to dry them on foam, earlene?
<earleneTX>   Marissa I just drop them on a large lid to dry.  The foam does soujnd like a good idea.  Sue O'Boyle-Jacobson is the new President
<Dolores7>   great Earlene....probably hadn't seen one of yours
<Marida1>   Wasn't her name Sue something.
<ReneeS>   was is a wedding shower cake Earlene?
<Dunkccc>   Marida was distracting everyone.  LOL
<ReneeS>   I need some wedding shower cake ideas
<tiG1>   Earlene, about how many do you do of one size for a cake?
<Dolores7>   oh right...I voted for Sue LOL
<KampyCake>   OK, thank you Earlene
<earleneTX>   Right renee - three tier - rolled fondant - it was pretty
<KampyCake>   She was president before
<Marida1>   I was the chaperone.  you all were distracting!!
<KampyCake>   bad girls!
<SandyKS>   Marida, I used PJ and your gumpaste recipe this past weekend. I added 1/4 c. cocoa powder and brown paste plus a little more water. Got a pretty brown bow. Was luck enough that it almost matched the shade of my chocolate buttercream for the groom's cake.
<earleneTX>   It depends on the cake tiG1

<Dunkccc>   Uh uh, you were one of the main instigators.  LOL
<earleneTX>   THE NEW STRESS FREE CAKE SUPPORTS FOR STACKED CAKES.  HAVE YOU SEEN THEM?  DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THEM?
<Dolores7>   so right Dunk!
<Marida1>   I need to make a whole lot of GP burgandy tulips and I keep getting it too soft when I add the burgandy.
<earleneTX>   I MET ARLENE HAASE IN MN IN MARCH.  SHE HAD BROUGHT THESE SUPPORT RINGS TO SHOW THE OTHER DECORATORS IN HER AREA.  NOW ONE WAS REALLY PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO THEM BUT THEY WERE A BIT CURIOUS LOOKING.
<Dolores7>   I understand now - after I watched her awhile
<Dunkccc>   We were having our own fun--right Dee?
<Dolores7>   we sure were
<earleneTX>   I ASKED HER ABOUT THEM AND SHE AGREED TO LET ME BRING ONE OF THE RINGS AND A SET OF LEGS HOME TO TRY AND TO SHOW THE OTHER DECORATORS IN OUR AREA.
<Dolores7>   they are very different and may take time to catch on - but are SO safe
<earleneTX>   I HAVE NOW USED THEM TOTALLY IN EVERY STACKED CAKE I HAVE DONE SINCE THE FIRST OF MAY WHICH IS ALMOST ALL OF THE CAKES.   THEY ARE WONDERFUL, STURDY,  SECURE AND AS SHE SAYS STRESS FREE.
<TrishCA>   Explain these to me Earlene....been thinking of buying...I really hate the whole straw thing, especially after one of the straws bent in one of my wed cakes this weekend and cause a minor problem :(
<KampyCake>   Marida, do you use the Rosemary Watson method to make your tulips?
<Marida1>   Earlene, I bought the whole set and I think I should have just bought the sizes I need.  I didn't understand how they worked at first.
[CarolAnnTX]   Marida, I have to make a bunch of black tulips for a march wedding cake
<earleneTX>   Sorry Trish - They are so great
<KampyCake>   I'm afraid I would never get the rings back
<earleneTX>   YES, THEY ARE EXPENSIVE BUT I NOW HAVE FOUR SETS OF THEM AND USE THEM ALL THE TIME.   IN A THREE TIERED 16, 12 AND 8 INCH CAKE YOU WOULD NEED TWO OF THOSE RINGS.
<Dolores7>   the all-in-one tulip? Nick Lodge shows that and it doesn't take too long at all
<earleneTX>   A 12 INCH AND A 6 INCH RING WITH THE LEGS SHORTER THAN THE HEIGHT OF THE CAKE.  IF YOUR CAKE MEASURES 4 1/4 INCHES TALL WITH ALL THE FILLINGS THEN YOU WOULD NEED A 4 INCH LEG THAT YOU CAN ADJUST A LITTLE LONGER BY SIMPLY UNSCREWING THE LEGS TO THE HEIGHT NEEDED.
<earleneTX>   YOU WANT THE RING TO BE SLIGHTLY EMBEDDED INTO THE TOP OF THE ICING.  NOT PUSHED DOWN IN THE ICING BUT JUST SLIGHTLY IMPRINTED INTO THE TOP ICING.  I TRIED LEAVING THEM ABOUT 1/8 INCH ABOVE THE TOP ICING AND THAT ALLOWS TO MUCH WIGGLE IN THE CAKE DURING DELIVERY.  SO YOU REALLY WANT THAT RING RIGHT DOWN ON THAT LOWER CAKES ICING.
<Marida1>   I never saw her method.  I haven't made them before so i am using Wilton's from their GP booklet.  Is there a better way?
<Dolores7>   Kampy...charge for them then replace if they don't return them/..
<Dolores7>   better still, put the price beside each and give them a list
<earleneTX>   IN THE ONE LAYER PKG CAKE I HAVE USED TWO INCH LEGS,  IN THE GREEK COLUMN CAKES I HAVE USED THREE 6 INCH RINGS WITH 3 1/2 INCH LEGS,   IN A VERY LARGE PKG CAKE I HAVE USED TWO 6 INCH RINGS IN THE BASE CAKE WITH THE NEXT CAKE STACKED ON TOP OF THOSE RINGS.
<earleneTX>   I DON¹T USE THE PLEXIGLASS PLATES WITH THESE RINGS.  I DO USE THE CARDBOARDS COVERED ON BOTH SIDES WITH CONTACT PAPER AND THIS HAS BEEN TOTALLY RELIABLE AND STURDY.
<KampyCake>   I bought one of her videos and she shows how she makes tulips - I've not done it yet.  There are molds to put the petals in and plastic things to let them dry in
<earleneTX>   SO IN THE GRAY GREEK COLUMN CAKE (1) I HAVE A PUFF BASE, (2)A PLASTIC PLATE WITH THE LEG HOLES UNDERNEATH  EMBEDDED DOWN INTO THE STYROFOAM.  THE PLATE NEEDS TO COVER THE TOP ELASTIC ON THE PUFF BASE - I DON¹T WANT THAT TO SHOW.  THEN ICING CAN BE PIPED RIGHT ON THE FABRIC.  (3) A CARDBOARD COVERED ON ONE SIDE WITH CONTACT PAPER TO FIT UNDER THE 15² CAKE ON THE BOTTOM.  CUT THE CARDBOARD DOWN 1/ 4 INCH SMALLER THAN THE 15 INCHES.  COVER ON O
*** ReneeS (reneelschl@AC909F37.ipt.aol.com) has joined channel #cakedecorators
<Dunkccc>   Earlene, what kind of luck are you having getting your rings back?  Are you charging a full fee for replacement?
<earleneTX>   SIDE ONLY  (4) THE 15 AND 12 INCH CAKES STACKED AND CARVED.  (5) A SIX INCH RING WITH FOUR LEGS.  (6) 7 3/4 INCH CARDBOARD COVERED ON BOTH SIDES WITH CONTACT PAPER,  (7) TWO LAYER 8 INCH CAKES.  REPEAT STEPS 6 AND 7 UNTIL THE CAKE HEIGHT NEEDED IS REACHED.   THIS CAKE HAS THREE 6 INCH RINGS SUPPORTING THE COLUMN.   BOTTLES,  CANS AND ETC WOULD NEED THIS SAME TYPE OF SUPPORT SET UP.
<Dolores7>   Marida...Nick has a cutter, cuts all petals at once and you just fold them all up into the tulip
<earleneTX>   Dunkccc - I have had no trouble getting them back - not one leg lost or one ring missing for the whole summer
<KampyCake>   wow!  that Nick cutter would be great
<earleneTX>   I ALSO USED THESE IN THE BASKETBALL CAKE IN JUNE AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IT DID NOT CRACK ON ME WHEN I WAS DELIVERING IT.  WE EVEN HAD TO DRIVE 150 MILES WITH THAT CAKE - AND NOT ONE LITTLE CRACK IN THAT BALL.  WOW - I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED IN HOW STURDY THESE SUPPORTS REALLY ARE.
[CarolAnnTX]   I need to find out how to make them tulips too maybe if I sweet talk Carolyn will show me!!
<earleneTX>   I KNOW THEY ARE EXPENSIVE - TO COVER THAT I DOUBLED MY DEPOSIT AND HAVE ALSO PRINTED A RETURN LIST WITH PICTURES OF ALL THE COMPONENTS    I NOW JUST PUT THE NUMBER IN ON HOW MANY LEGS, HOW MANY PLATES AND ETC FOR THEM TO RETURN.  THEY CAN SEE BY THE PICTURE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AND NO MORE EXPLAINING WHAT I WANT BACK.
<Dolores7>   Kampy...pink and looks like a flower
<Dunkccc>   Wow, some ladies in our cake club had people throw away the metal rings (something different--a one piece thing).
<ReneeS>   there was a lady in a vendor 's booth making a rose with one cutter and just folding up the petals
<earleneTX>   I HAVEN¹T LOST ANY OF THE RINGS OR LEGS.  THEY BRING THEM BACK ALL ATTACHED TOGETHER.  WITH A LARGE DEPOSIT IN MY HANDS THEY RETURN THEM TO ME QUICKLY.   $200 MINIMUM IS NOW THE DEPOSIT I REQUIRE.
<earleneTX>   NOW ANY QUESTIONS ON THE USE OF THESE STRESS FREE SUPPORT SYSTEMS
<Marida1>   Renee--when did you ever see all of that?
<Dolores7>   Renee,,,I didn't see her. I don't know if this is on Nick's video
<Dolores7>   when you were lost Marida LOL
<earleneTX>   I was always having people loose the plates and legs before - using these and the cardboards covered with contact paper I haven't lost one
<KampyCake>   does Nick's cutter come with instructions?
<TrishCA>   I think you covered it all..thank Earlene

<ReneeS>   that's right Delores, Marida gave me free time while she was lost!

<KampyCake>   yes Marida, I can never remember where I park at the grocery store and even forget which vehicle I drove.
<earleneTX>   MMMMMMMM  Marida did you loose something at ICES - like your memory   LOL
<Marida1>   Renee, was that Pat Trukfeld?  I have her stuff to make tulips.  Maybe I will give that a try.
<Dolores7>   Kampy...I don't think so but I have the instructions...uhhhmmmm somewere...from his class
<Dolores7>   Marida always gets lost...but it isn't her age I understand she always did
<KampyCake>   I wish I could make a rose with one cut and fold it all up!
<Dunkccc>   What did you think of convention--I was a bit disappointed.  I think the last two years were better.
<earleneTX>   THe five petal cutters for roses are great - I love JEM cutters - inexpensive and cut deeper into the center.  They are fabulous for making quick roses
<Marida1>   Earlene, I am always lost.  if I had of had a cell phone I would have called Renee from within the building to come get me.
<Dolores7>   Kampy...I can do that one...isn't too hard
<LynneCA1>   finally caught up and the conversation:)  have been running between the bbq grill outside, kitchen and here:)
<Dolores7>   These ones Nick used are JEM I think
<TrishCA>   Carol Webb share a great idea with us, about placing a printed list of items to be returned and the replacement cost of each item, take this list and tape in on the table before placing the cake on top. When the cake cutting and serving is done the server is bond to find this list when cleaning up and make the effert to find any missing pieces on your list when they see the replace charge will be.
<SandyKS>   Will you be bringing them along to the gumpaste class in Omaha, Earlene?
<LynneCA1>   glad to see so many needing to make tulips;  i have to make some in a couple of wks too
<earleneTX>   Lynne is getting her physical and mental excersize to night
<KampyCake>   I need to take some classes! LOL
<LynneCA1>   someone please put some instructions on the board for us to follow
<Dolores7>   Trish...I always did that...you really need to
[CarolAnnTX]   I get lost when I deliver flowers to people in the hospital especially if the hospital is big, I always end up going out the wrong door and having to run aroud a long block to catch up with my driver!!!
<Dolores7>   Kampy...take Nick Lodges! Its the best. Earlene is your class full???
<MarissaT>   is the sunflower cutter/veiner made by JEM, FMM or PME?
<ReneeS>   marida, it wasn't Pat trunkfield
<Marida1>   Maybe we could have a tulip making party.  You're all invited!
<earleneTX>   Trish I took pictures of all the components I use in my cakes in setting them up - put them on a half sheet of paper and leave that with the cake.  Now they can see what they need to return
<KampyCake>   My health dept guy told me I need to install a new sewer system if I wan to remain state inspected.
<ReneeS>   it was Jem cutters where I saw the rose being done with almost one cut
<SandyKS>   I hope Earlene's class isnt' full yet. I'm sending in my money tomorrow  for it.

[CarolAnnTX]   That sounds like fun Marida we'll all have tulips coming out of our ears!!

<KampyCake>   They think the sewer might back up into the basement drains.  It never has before.
<ReneeS>   do you vein with the cornhusk before cutting or after?
<earleneTX>   Occassionally Sandy
<SandyKS>   I have a whole field of corn. Do you use dried one, or take the green husks and soak in glygerine water to make them softer?
<KampyCake>   I'm going to see what it will cost
<Marida1>   Not hard, Lynne.  I am having a problem with the color.  She wants a deep burgandy and when I add coloring to it the GP gets too soft.
<earleneTX>   After
<Dolores7>   after cutting...and smoothing the edges
<earleneTX>   You want them dried and firm

<ReneeS>   do you roll the cornhusk over your petal?
<Marida1>   The burgandy dust looks awful dark to me.  Can I lighten it up?
<KampyCake>   Have they ever made burgundy airbrush color?  If so that would work
<Dolores7>   I hope I got the lof\g...I tried Perch and not sure
<SandyKS>   I can bring some along to Omaha if any one wants some corn husks straight from the Land of Oz!!  :O)

<Dolores7>   Burgundy...I mix 2 colors until its right
<KampyCake>   LOL Sandy - me too - got tons of corn

<earleneTX>   My husband has a small green house - he put a hot water heater in there and ran pipes under the ground to keep the ground warm in freezing cold weather
<MindyMac>   Sandy,  you could of had that oven from the school, but it's gone now
<SandyKS>   The peppers won't sell him at all Kampy.
<LynneCA1>   sandy, only one reason will help convience him:  w/give you more time to spend w/him!
<MindyMac>   why thanks tig1,  no that's a perfect size
<KampyCake>   well, ok Sandy, I'll have to think of someting else
<tiG1>   k
<earleneTX>   Good reason Lynne
<TrishCA>   Well SAndy let me know what works for you...I need to work on my hubby too.....I've already tried the "I really need one appoarch"...time for flattery I guess...lol
<helen_oh>   gotta go too nite all
<SandyKS>   I like that reason, Lynne.
<SandyKS>   Mindy,. that oven didn't sound like it was very reliable.
<KampyCake>   I baked a lot of wedding cakes in that oven
<MindyMac>   Dolores is just going to have to delete all the rest of the posts.  :-)

<KampyCake>   Hee hee SAndy
<pwdsugar>   I had three ovens I was baking in.  A double oven stove and another large oven in the house.  I can bake more than all three of those in one oven load now.
<SandyKS>   My husband would definately not complain. That may be the best selling point yet.  :o)
<KampyCake>   Mindy, do you want to go to MO DOS in Kansas City?
<LynneCA1>   trish, have any free time say fri?
<KampyCake>   what a bargain!
<MindyMac>   no, too far and I'm too poor.  LOL
<pwdsugar>   BRB
<BamaBaker>   I couldn't live without my convection oven
<KampyCake>   I'm anxious to get the new ovens hooked up.  I'm hoping what takes me three days will take 3 hours
<LynneCA1>   i'm soooo glad i hung on to my convec oven too
<MindyMac>   you got new ovens Marie?
<MindyMac>   oh that's right. You bought them at an auction didn't you?
<SandyKS>   My dad is selling out his locker business next week. I'm think of getting a cart that holds 6 meat trays.  Was thinking it would make a great cooling rack. What do you all think?
<KampyCake>   Yes, I got a double-decker gas convection oven at an auction in Pattonsburg.  It's a Franklin - well there are two of them
<LynneCA1>   go for it sandy!
<pwdsugar>   Sounds like it would work SandyKS
<KampyCake>   that's sounds like a good idea Sandy
<MindyMac>   I think it would be great Sandy
<MindyMac>   does it have the racks on it
<KampyCake>   might be a good delivery cart
<SandyKS>   my problem is my space.... what do I get rid of, my husband or kids for the carts and oven./
<KampyCake>   My new ovens - the bottom one is on wheels and both of them have 5 racks
<BamaBaker>   hmmm....is there a difference between husband and kids?  My husband acts like a kid most days...*s*
<MindyMac>   did you get your floor done yet Marie?
<SandyKS>   the carts are too big for delivery, the trays are removable. They were for quick freezing the meat packages before they were packe in lockers.
<MindyMac>   I think they all do Bama.  :-)
<SandyKS>   Dad, said he'd save me a cart. Now I need the oven and a bigger house.

<TrishCA>   okay I'm back, I think :)
<LynneCA1>   wb trish
<TrishCA>   thanks :)
<KampyCake>   Sandy, surely you can get rid of something besides the kids or hubby
<MindyMac>   Marie,  a cheap way to get the floor done would be just to paint it.
<LynneCA1>   do you see us?
<TrishCA>   I see ya :)
<SandyKS>   Kampy, keep your chin up. The mixer will last another 50 years and the new sewer will increase your property value.
<MindyMac>   we use to paint the cement floors at the school all the time
<LynneCA1>   will you be free for a mtg maybe fri?
<SandyKS>   Got three chickens but they don't take up much space.
<pwdsugar>   Kampy we have septic tanks here - I don't know why you would have to replace them unless they are causing you a problem or you are having a contamination problem
<KampyCake>   that's the trouble with painting the floors - have to keep doing it don't you?
<TrishCA>   me?
<MindyMac>   yes, eventually you would.
<KampyCake>   Well, the one we have isn't working right.  I'm thinking maybe if we just pu mp it out, it might help
<MindyMac>   how did the inspector find out it wasn't workiing right?
<KampyCake>   I see you Lynne
<LynneCA1>   yes trish.  when can we get together???
<tiG1>   earlene, did you have to have a bigger septic tank when you first started legal?
<KampyCake>   the smell.
<MindyMac>   oh noo.
<TrishCA>   Friday would work for me....maybe we can get tpgther with Paige also
<pwdsugar>   You may need a new drainage field or leech lines and get it pumped out
<KampyCake>   the wind was in the west and all this time I thought it was the sheep, but it's the septic tank
<pwdsugar>   Nope
<LynneCA1>   you haven't had it pumped yet?  do that 1st
<MindyMac>   there are companies that clean out the septic tanks.
<SandyKS>   Kampy, tell the inspector that the fertilizer for your organic garden that he/she's smelling.
<KampyCake>   yes, they come pump it out
<MindyMac>   LOL
<KampyCake>   OH NO!  YUCK!
<BamaBaker>   Kampy, here it only costs about $150 to have the septic tank pumped.   That's much cheaper than a new system
<pwdsugar>   If the leech lines get to full of yuck then you need to have that redone.
<KampyCake>   We don't put garden near the septic.  He thinks a lagoon would be better
<pwdsugar>   sure is Bama.
<LynneCA1>   please, let's get that arranged.  i'll be busy next wk so fri is about the only time i have for awhile.
<tiG1>   I'm glad y'all are talking about this, it was a non-selling point to DH on letting me go legal
<LynneCA1>   seems i don't have any time now that i'm teaching at michael';s
<pwdsugar>   You can tell where our leech lines are - the grass is much greener in those areas.
<KampyCake>   well, I think I'll try that first
<MindyMac>   the drainage field should work fine.  You're up on a hill there
<pwdsugar>   We have two septic tanks - one in the back of the house and one in the front
<TrishCA>   Friday it is.....I'll email her and see about getting together
<MindyMac>   You have septic tanks too tig?
<BamaBaker>   pwdsugar...know what you mean...this year our yard was brown, except where those two line are....green
<KampyCake>   I need to find where the clean-out is.  It has been here 32 years so probably is due for a cleaning
<pwdsugar>   Want to hear a scary story about septic tank
<MindyMac>   has it backed up into the house?
<KampyCake>   yes I want to hear
<tiG1>   yes, I live in the country:)
<KampyCake>   no, never has backed up
<KampyCake>   me too tig
<MindyMac>   Where at tig?  I'm in Missouri
<tiG1>   west middle GA
<TrishCA>   Yes i've read that ....by the way i recall when I took my classes at Michael's we always had a crowded room full of stock that needed marking or putting away...our instructor hated it but her hands seemed tied...didn't want to stir the soup to often
<pwdsugar>   I was working in the large flower bed.  Weeding diging and etc.  The next day my helper Amy carried the trash.  She can back in the house and asked what the huge hole was in front of the house
<pwdsugar>   I asked her what hole?????
<LynneCA1>   o.k. trish.  i'll be up there early -- about 9 a.m.  drop terry in tulare before 8 and go straight up there.
<LynneCA1>   unless you want supplies; or we can go there later
<KampyCake>   uh oh,
<pwdsugar>   The septic tank had caved in - right where I had been standing the day before - competely destroyed that flower bed.  That is when you have to replace the Septic tank Kampy
<KampyCake>   I'm feeling creepy already . . .
<TrishCA>   Okay Lynne,,,I'll let you know on supplies, do you need anything?

<KampyCake>   WEll, we'll have to do something.  I checked on rents in town.  They want $500. a month for a shack
<KampyCake>   they're concrete - same thing as burial vaults
