[20:00] <traciep> But it's coming again thursday Dolores. Worse
this time.
[20:01] You are now known as ShirleyR

[20:03] <Dolores7> Don't forget - move forward & back sometimes
with your server so you don't get booted
[20:03] <Earlene> That InStyle wedding mag had more cakes in it
than any of
the other Wedding issues I have seen.
[20:03] <traciep> Earlene - go ahead and brag, but I'll be on the
beach in Mexico in a couple of days.

[20:04] <Earlene> But at least you guys are getting some moisture.
We are dry enough that they may have to prime us to spit.
[20:04] <Dolores7> Hi ShirleyNV
[20:04] <traciep> i got the pictures out of the Wedding book that
had the cakes that matched the dressed. they were pretty neat.
[20:04] <Earlene> That little baby head mold is so sweet LadyCakes
[20:05] <MindyMc> now that's a Texan talking. :-)
[20:05] <traciep> oops, dresses
[20:05] <Dolores7> Oh its still very dry here too. Our well stinks
like sulphur
[20:05] <LadyCakes> I have used the baby heads several times already
[20:05] <Earlene> I loved the first one that Colette had done.
[20:05] <CarolAnnTX> Mysister is snowed in Campbell, N. Y.,
[20:06] <Dolores7> Here we go gang!
[20:06] <Dolores7> Tuesday, January 18, 2000 - Topic: "CAKE 'DUMMIES"
I thought, since there has been a lot of 'talk' about bridal shows, it
might be a good time to talk about cake dummies.
[20:06] <Marida> Earlene - whenit is that that the lady doublebooked?
[20:06] <LadyCakes> We never ever get snow and my grandkids built
a 10 ft snowman today
[20:06] <Earlene> I will put a picture of the flowers we did in
the beginner GP class last week on next week. We did two flowers using
those baby faces
[20:06] <CarolAnnTX> How did she get that one cake to sit at an
angle, without tipping over?
[20:06] <Earlene> In September Marida
[20:06] <Dolores7> CAKE 'DUMMIES':
[20:07] <Earlene> I emailed her had suggested that she answer that
one on the message board. I don't think she choose to do that
[20:07] Laufay [~anon@36.new-york-15rs.ny.dial-access.att.net] has
joined #cakedecorators
[20:07] <ShirleyR> hi Laufay
[20:07] <Dolores7> Hi Laufay!
[20:08] <Dolores7> NOTE: cake dummies cost just as much or more
- than does real cake...so if I need to make a cake bigger than the customer
needs, I charge the same per serving and include the
dummies as if they were cakes. The decorating takes the time and it
will take you every bit as long. We sell dummies in many sizes/shapes.
I wrap mine in plastic wrap so I can reuse them. (I also
have a shrink-wrap machine, so I can smooth out the wrinkles in the
plastic wrap). I think some people have done this with a hair dryer. Regardless,
even if you merely stretch the plastic wrap
tightly around the dummy, it is easy to tear down when you need to.
For display, ice with royal icing.
[20:08] <Laufay> Hi everybody!
[20:08] <Earlene> Marida that is a strange situation. The "Aunt"
and the Brides mother both came for the appointment. Not the bride - she
lives in dallas
[20:08] <Earlene> Dolores I have a new five tier dummy and tried
something new on it to keep the styrafoam clean.
[20:08] <Marida> Are you just going to wait it out?
[20:09] <Dolores7> what Earlene?
[20:09] <Earlene> For right now. But I am giving some serious thought
to changing my deposit policy

[20:09] <ShirleyR> hi traciann
[20:09] <cklady> HI Dolores and Shirley
[20:10] <LadyCakes> Hi Cklady, I haven't seen you since Sun..LOL
[20:10] <cklady> Hi Laura
[20:10] <LadyCakes> Hi Brenda
[20:10] <Earlene> I covered the top with the contact paper. Taking
it down the sides about an inch. Then I took that clear wide tape and did
the sides real tight. That covered it really easy and fast
[20:11] <Earlene> It also really smoothed down all those little
clippings of the top contact paper.
[20:11] <cklady> Does any know some good uses for wafer paper -
I had to get 100 sheets when I ordered some today. I need them for butterflies,
but only wanted about 5 sheets!

[20:11] <Dolores7> Earlene - I really think this is a great alternative.
I'd heard about something similar
[20:11] <Marida> I have never covered my dummies with anything but
royal icing. I have one I am going to try the wrap on bebore I ice it.
[20:11] <ShirleyR> Hi eddie_CA
[20:11] <Dolores7> Hi Eddie..
[20:11] <eddie_CA> hello everyone
[20:11] <Dolores7> cklady...thats expensive!
[20:12] <Dolores7> going on about cake dummies....
[20:12] <cklady> no, he said it wasn't too high, but it was more
than I wanted. Should have called you!
[20:12] <LadyCakes> I have five 3 tier cake dummies sitting in my
shop covered with buttercream icing and it holds up real well
[20:12] <Dolores7> PERMAICE: This is NOT edible at all. But a dummy
iced and decorated with Perma-ice is merely washed off with soap and water
when it gets dirty or dustyIt won't fade, since
you use real colors, not food coloring. (Royal icing DOES fade bad
after 3-4 months). There IS some way to thicken it, but I forget what.
[20:12] <Dolores7> With Permaice. the application is smooth, drop-strings
are perfect, roses wonderful, borders precise. Only drawback is the price.
The greatest benefit with either one is that they
are both permanent, lightweight, & WASHABLE!!! YES, you can set
them in your sink & spray them off if they get dusty from sitting in
a shop display window. They DO NOT YELLOW! In
order to color the perma ice, us TUBE acrylic paint, nothing else.
The color wil
[20:12] <Dolores7> You CAN use regular spacking paste. But it kinda
defeats the purpose since it is not washable.
[20:12] <Dolores7> Do you know the ``paper towel'' method of smoothing
a cake? I've done this on Perma-Ice & it worked very well. I like the
look of the textured markings, & use ``towel'' method a
lot just for the look.
[20:12] <Dolores7> Use perma-ice on gingerbread. If you want to
make display houses you never intend to eat.
[20:12] <Earlene> The reason I cover them is because after they
have had the icing on them - you can beat the icing off - wash the icing
off - peel the icing off - whatever - But they still get stinky
after they have icing in contact with the styrafoam
[20:12] <Dolores7> oops LOL - that was a lotta stuff!
[20:12] <helen_oh> dolores let me introduce Ed!!!!
[20:12] <Dolores7> I thought so...Hi Ed

that something. Look what you got started girl. LOL
[20:16] <Dolores7> Hi ohmigosh
[20:16] <LadyCakes> I have a oven like that and they are great
[20:16] ohmigosh is now known as TrishCA
[20:16] <eddie_CA> same here Dolores thanks for all your mentoring
[20:16] <ShirleyR> helen you can just add it to your wordpad
[20:16] <helen_oh> I love the gemini matag only cost $1300
[20:16] <Dolores7> GREAT! Colette told me she had a lot to learn...did
you help her a lot?
[20:16] <Dolores7> wlecome Ed
[20:16] <cklady> No LadyCakes, not a regular double oven ( I've
seen yours!), but a small one that is the size of a regular oven.
[20:16] <MindyMc> you have the maytag oven that has the two separate
doors on it.
[20:16] <LadyCakes> it is worth the money as you can bake two cakeas
at the same time
[20:16] <Dolores7> I sent Helen a cheat sheet
[20:16] <Earlene> I showed her what I use and how it works. She
also has a MAC so that made it easier for her.
[20:17] <LadyCakes> Oh, well I love mine
[20:17] <Dolores7> That was lucky...MAC
[20:17] <Marida> How large are the two cakes you can bake at the
same time?
[20:17] dee has left IRC
[20:17] <cklady> I don't have the room to put in a double oven like
that. I'd loose too much space in my kitchen. Oh, you can supposedly fit
2 12x18's into it.
[20:17] <eddie_CA> good night mom :)
[20:17] <Earlene> What is the largest size you can bake
[20:17] <Dolores7> ANY professional oven is better than the home
oven for the fact that it is made better - I think - mine sure is
[20:18] <Dolores7> I can get 6 full sheet cakes in mine
[20:18] <LadyCakes> I can bake any size at the same time and cane
bake 4 fourth sheet cakes at the same time in my double oven
[20:18] <Dolores7> I can get one that holds 3 full sheet cakes for
$3,000.00
[20:18] <Earlene> I love mine now. Since I have the pie sheets -
they made all the difference in the world
[20:19] <helen_oh> goodnight Ed!love you--
[20:19] <cklady> I can do a 12x18 now, but only one. I don't have
room for a professional oven either - wish I did. Someday when I get my
shop. Until I get a shop, I have to makes due.
[20:19] <Dolores7> Yes...Earlene recommended the one I have
[20:19] eddie_CA [eee@207-218-34-171.nas1.bur.primenet.com] has quit

[20:19] <Dolores7> Its early where Ed is
[20:19] <LadyCakes> I can do (2) 12x18 at the same time in the two
ovens
[20:19] <Earlene> We have twin ovens Dolores.... LOL
[20:19] <cklady> Where's Ed
[20:20] <Dolores7> right...and twin digital cameras too...Earlene
is the guina pig I guess
[20:20] <Earlene> I stilll love that one to.
[20:20] <helen_oh> Probably had work to do
[20:20] <ShirleyR> lol
[20:20] roses is on IRC
20:20] <cklady> I only have a plain, single oven, and do all my
work with that. I'd love this Gemini because you can put a ck in the top,
and another in the bottom at the same time. I just need to talk
to someone whose done this - maybe it's too new.
[20:20] <Dolores7> here is the rest of what I was sending you tonight:
[20:20] <Dolores7> What about the rest of you...do you have any
hints to add to this?
[20:20] <Dolores7> What subjects would you most like for us to cover
in the next few weeks????
[20:20] <Earlene> You should see the album I have of pictures from
the ICES Show, the OK show, our pulled sugar class and the NY.NJ trip
[20:21] <Earlene> It is about 2 inches thick. Love that digital
camera
[20:21] <Dolores7> I wish I'd get my pictures IN an album. But they
sure are good picts.
[20:21] Kitty has left IRC
[20:22] <Earlene> Dolores I opened up a word processing page and
put four to six pictures on a page. Printed the pages and put them in page
protectors for the album. Worked great.
[20:22] hunter is on IRC
[20:22] <cklady> Hey LadyCakes, still snow on the ground where you
are?
[20:23] <LadyCakes> I do that to for my wed album for people to
see when they come into the shop, I love my digital to
[20:23] <Dolores7> I did that the other day too. With my student's
picts. But I want a fancy printer now LOL
[20:23] <LadyCakes> yes and it is about 24 here, how about you?
[20:23] <Earlene> How many of you are doing bridal shows right now?
[20:23] <Dolores7> other cameras are getting REAL cheap I noticed
[20:23] <cklady> I bought a digital for Christmas and love it. My
cus like the bigger pics too.
[20:23] <MindyMc> how does it cost out using the digital camera
and the special paper and ink for the photographs
[20:23] Kitty is on IRC
[20:23] <Earlene> But we have the best girl.....
[20:23] <cklady> Yes, still snow - and NO SCHOOL again tom! It's
about 24 here too.
[20:24] <MindyMc> I went to one on Sunday
[20:24] <LadyCakes> No bridal shows in my small town, whis they
were
[20:24] <Dolores7> Mindy, I think the initial cost is the big buy
[20:24] <Earlene> About $3 per page when you count the paper, blk
ink and color ink.
[20:24] <LadyCakes> took you long enough to get one cklady...LOL
[20:24] <Dolores7> Of course we must have photo paper.
[20:24] <MindyMc> this is for 8x10 photos?
[20:24] <Earlene> That is for an 8X10 page of pictures
[20:24] <cklady> Hee - only got one for you LadyCakes!
[20:24] Kitty has left IRC
[20:25] <Dolores7> What kind of photo printer does everyone have?
[20:25] <LadyCakes> thank you cklady
[20:25] <ShirleyR> LadyCakes are you the same one I had on my icq?
[20:25] <Dolores7> I just have a little Fargo photo printer. It
is perfect but only does small picts.
[20:25] <Earlene> Epson photo paper seems to be the best photo paper.
I bought one pkg of HP paper and it didn't measure up
[20:25] hunter has left IRC
[20:25] <MindyMc> mine is a hp 694C. but I've never printed any
photos on it. It's suppose to work for them though
[20:25] <LadyCakes> yes I think I was till I got a virus and now
have lost all I had on ICQ
[20:25] <Earlene> Epson
[20:26] <Dolores7> good to know Earlene...I always take your advice
LOL
[20:26] roses has left IRC
[20:26] <cklady> Can you belive it eveyone, we less than 3" of snow,
and they cancelled school for 2 days, closed most business today, and postponed
a party for which I made a 150 person ck for!
[20:26] <LadyCakes> cannon 5100 is the best to print out frost sheets
[20:26] <Dolores7> I saw an Epson for about $500.00 I thought would
work
[20:26] <ShirleyNV> I have a Hewlett Packerd deskjet 855C fir normal
stuff and the Canon 5100 for Edible Images.
[20:26] <Earlene> The HP paper was grainy as well as duller.
[20:26] <ShirleyR> ok LadyCakes ..I thought your name looked familar
to me..lol
[20:26] <Dolores7> yes, but for your digital c. Shirley...what for
that?
[20:27] <cklady> The 5100 was rated very high in Consumer Digest
for pic printing - and is good for frosting sheets too
[20:27] <Dolores7> It prints better thanmy 6000 - I think.
[20:27] <Dolores7> I use the 5100 for frosting pictures
[20:27] <ShirleyNV> I use the HP for camera photo prints.
[20:27] <LadyCakes> I have the Epson 440 for my reg pic's
[20:28] <Dolores7> My laser won't print on photo paper
[20:28] <MindyMc> I use the 5100 for edible photos too.
[20:28] <Earlene> I have learned that it doesn't work so well for
candid shots of people. If they move a little - its shutter speed is to
slow.
[20:28] <cklady> If you put in the 7 color cartridge and change
the printheads of course, you get fantastic pics - have to have the special
paper too though.
[20:28] <Dolores7> yes...must hold SO still...need a tripod really.
[20:28] <Dolores7> HELEN - are you here????
[20:28] <ShirleyR> I have a epson 740 for regular pictures
[20:28] <Earlene> The good photo paper is really the secret to printing
really good photos.
[20:29] <LadyCakes> you are right Earlene
[20:29] <Dolores7> I must keep that in mind Earlene. Thanks
[20:29] roses is on IRC
[20:29] <Earlene> Right. Even a tripod for the cakes is best
[20:29] <cklady> My camera is the Kodak DC215 camera - great pics
for the price. I took shots of the kids in the snow today and they were
very crisp and sharp. You can get them from Buy.com
for about $350 now - and that includes the USB reader
[20:29] roses has left IRC
[20:29] <Earlene> So now I try to remember to let people know I
want their picture so they will be still. LOL
[20:29] <helen_oh> just listening cant type fast enough
[20:29] <Dolores7> that IS a good price. Mine cost about twice that!
[20:29] <CarolAnnTX> Cannon 5100, I will use mine too for frosting
pictures, when my husband gets through playing with it.
[20:30] <LadyCakes> I got those pic's in email from cklady today
and they are so clear
[20:30] <Earlene> No more being sneaky LOL
[20:30] <Dolores7> you do fine helen...just chime in any old time
[20:30] <Dolores7> just change head and cartridges Carol?
[20:30] <cklady> I am really happy with the camera - and the price
was right. Target had it for more $, without the reader, and less megabite
card - mine came with the 8 not the 4
[20:30] <LadyCakes> I use my Cannon 5100 for nothing but my frosting
sheets
[20:31] <Dolores7> HELEN,,,wait til we really get going...we'll
need to be speed readers too LOL
[20:31] <Earlene> I got a 80 MB card - I can take pictures forever
now.
[20:31] <LadyCakes> don't want to take the chance that ink will
get on my frost sheet
[20:31] <Earlene> Helen you are doing great.
[20:31] <Dolores7> I have 3 cards and ran out at ICES
[20:31] <cklady> I could spring for a larger card, but downloading
is so easy with the USB that I don't leave pics on the camera for long
enough to matter
[20:32] <CarolAnnTX> Now that Holidays are over and he's back to
work , I'll fix it my way.
[20:32] <Earlene> What size cards do you have Dolores
[20:32] <helen_oh> Thanks Earlene!!
[20:32] <traciann> now what do you guys know about these cameras
that actually use floppy disks for storage so you can pop them right into
your floppy drive????

[20:32] <Dolores7> 1 8MB and 2 30's
[20:32] <ShirleyNV> I had to print a contact out the other day,
and forgot to switch the printers and printed it out on regular paper and
food coloring on my 5100. It still printed clear as a bell. I used
it, no one will ever know except all of you that it was printed with
food coloring!
[20:32] <LadyCakes> Hi Lynne

[20:33] <Earlene> A floppy disk doesn't hold much memory. So therefore
you won't have many pictures at high resolution.
[20:33] <Dolores7> Hi Karyn
[20:33] <cklady> Traciann, they are ok, but the quality isn't as
good as some cameras. We looked into those, but decided against them because
of that.
[20:33] traciep has left IRC
[20:33] <Dolores7> I set my resolution at as high as it goes

[20:33] <LynneCA1> 12 Hi everybody !
[20:33] <KARYN718> hi
[20:33] <ShirleyR> hi KARYN718
[20:33] <ShirleyR> hi LynneCA1
[20:33] <Earlene> Unless they get it near water ShirleyNV LOL
[20:33] <ShirleyNV> Opps! I hopr not!
[20:33] <Dolores7> nice to see you Lynne.
[20:34] <LynneCA1> hello everyone. what a nice group!
[20:34] <cklady> Mine takes 54-100 depending on what I set it on.
[20:34] <Dolores7> yeah Lynne...we're gabby too
[20:34] <Earlene> Plus that camera with the floppy is heavy.....
very heavy
[20:34] <traciann> so my dad told me a floppy disk could hold about
40 pictures??? not true?? maybe i don't understand about resolution...
[20:35] <traciann> so my photos will maybe be grainier???
[20:35] <Dolores7> traci...can you save 40 picts on one disk from
your computer...same thing
[20:35] <Earlene> Traciann the higher resolution the less pictures
you will get. It takes more memory for higher resolution.
[20:35] <cklady> Do some reading, check out the web sites and the
consumer digests, ask around before you spend money. It's worth seeing
what people evaluate the camera your looking at as, and see what will work
for you in your price range.
[20:35] <Dolores7> BUT - mine are JPG too...which are much smaller
files than if they were TISs
[20:35] <Dolores7> ...TIFs LOL
[20:35] <Earlene> Can you print out an 8X10 and it still be clear
and not fuzzy?
[20:36] <traciann> ok--thanks
[20:36] <cklady> I have to set the camera to take the bigger pics
- higher res, and they look great. Otherwise, I keep them at about the
5x7 range
[20:36] <LadyCakes> I print 8x10's and they are good
[20:36] <Earlene> If you have a low resolution it might print a
small picture clear but the bigger ones might be fuzzy
[20:37] <cklady> I tell you what, it was cool today to see the pics
I took TODAY.
[20:37] <LadyCakes> My camera is a LCD QV-700
[20:37] <Dolores7> Earlene, your pics on your web site were all
taken with your digital, right?
[20:37] <Earlene> Great. I know I sure wouldn't want to go back
to the other camera now. I AM SPOILED ROTTEN WITH THIS CAMERA
[20:37] <traciann> i like the idea of beign able to see them right
away so i know if i need to take another!!!! my pics are always so
rotten!! But getting better
[20:37] <Dolores7> me TOO!
[20:37] <Earlene> All of the ones since I bought the camera
[20:37] <cklady> I like to check mine too - especially at weddings!
[20:38] <Dolores7> I still haven't figured out how to put them on
the TV
[20:38] <Earlene> We would have never gotten pictures of that pulled
sugar work with a regular camera
[20:38] <Dolores7> really Earlene?
[20:38] <Dolores7> why?
[20:38] <cklady> We hook our camera to the TV, then tell the TV
to go to Aux Input, put the TV on it's AUX channel and it's there - big
pics of us on TV. Took some reading to figure that out though.
[20:39] <Earlene> You just plug in your camera and plug it into
the input on the back of your VCR and then push play. Have your camera
do the slide show and walla you have a slide show on your TV
[20:39] <Dolores7> I need time to practice
[20:39] roses is on IRC
[20:39] <Dolores7> Thanks...I'll try that
[20:39] <LadyCakes> You also have a com smart husband Cklady, that
helps
[20:39] <cklady> Different systems work differently - we tried the
plug and play first, but had to set our TV different
[20:40] <cklady> Oh - not this time. I figured out the TV connection
myself, thank you : )
[20:40] <LadyCakes> LOL

[20:41] kitty has left IRC
[20:41] <Dolores7> the TV is new, so I think that will work
[20:41] <Earlene> The pulled sugar seemed to have light come from
within the sugar pieces. We had to almost cut the light out of the
room to getgood pictures. The clear pieces especially. Pieces with more
color took a little more light and we had a person standing in front of
a window by the sink moving to adjust the light. Now is that a fancy lighting
trick
[20:41] <cklady> I'm spoiled, my hubby is good at comes, but he
leaves me to figure out the VCR and stuff!
[20:42] <cklady> I meant he's good at computers - oops!
[20:42] <LadyCakes> he sure is good, he has fixed mine several times
[20:42] <Dolores7> I see...so having the digital you could check
intermittantly too
[20:42] roses is on IRC
[20:42] <helen_oh> Ihave a son that knows it all but not close enough

[20:42] <Earlene> Me to Dolores - If Dannie needs to get up early

[20:42] <Dolores7> Mine is GREAT at electricity, plumbing, carpentry
etc.
[20:42] <Dolores7> LOL
[20:43] <cklady> I have one of those Jack-of-all-trades hubbys -

[20:43] <Earlene> But he sure is great with making things I need.
Like cabinets, cake boards, fixing the plumbing and etc.
[20:43] <LadyCakes> Mine is a great cake baker, bakes all my cakes

[20:44] <Earlene> Right we would set the room and lighting the best
we could figure, take a picture and check it, Then we could have our lighting
person move to the left or right or turn another light out and etc.
[20:45] <Dolores7> Thats what I did at first Earlene...a lot
[20:45] <Earlene> We wouldn'[t have gotten any pictures at all with

for a Tax ID#..... has anyone found out any more? I printed out the
IRS form from http://ftp.fedworld.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fss4.pdf , but want to
talk to my tax man before I send it in.
[20:45] <Dolores7> who taught the pulled sugar class?
[20:45] <Dolores7> Hi Renee
[20:45] <ReneeS> hi all
[20:45] <Marida> Hi, Renee.
[20:46] ocean has left IRC
[20:46] <cklady> I just went to the county tax office, it was easy
and didn't cost a thing
[20:46] <Earlene> Wyn Grisham - from Albuquerque, NM - she's great
[20:46] <Dolores7> I have one Shirley...but mine is too different
I'm sure
[20:46] <Dolores7> I wondered if it was Wyn...she is so good!
[20:46] <TrishCA> may I ask what a class like that runs?
[20:46] <cklady> Does anyone know if you can do cks out of your
home in IL - we might move there in about 2 years. Just curious at this
point -checking our options.
[20:46] <MindyMc> shirleynv, I wasn't able to find it.
[20:46] <Earlene> She just sent me a picture of pooh and the animals
in the forest. She just loves playing with this stuff.
[20:47] <Dolores7> where in IL?...north west?
[20:47] <MindyMc> the county tax office has the stuff do do this
[20:47] <cklady> Rockford area - about 75 miles west of Chicago
[20:47] <Dolores7> a gal here did a blown sugar peacock at a DOS
[20:47] <ShirleyNV> I was just wondering if you have a tax Id# if
you MUST file a return under that number even if it is not used.
[20:47] <Earlene> She charged us $200 for the four days plus equipment.
But I think we got a deal
[20:47] <Marida> No. You do not have to use the number. We don't.
[20:47] <LynneCA1> here in calif you do shirley
[20:47] <Dolores7> cklady...bet you will have to follow the rules
pretty close in that metro area
[20:48] <cklady> You have to file even if you don't make money,
but if you don't use the # anymore, tell them!
[20:48] <Dolores7> no one around here hardly, is legal
[20:48] <traciann> shirley...why do you want to get a number???
[20:48] <MindyMc> You don't have to send in tax forms with your
business and use the tax # Marida
[20:48] <Earlene> I am the only home baker here that is legal.
[20:48] <Marida> I only have a number so I can wholesale
[20:48] <Dolores7> I have to file even if I don't make money
too...guess because I have the license
[20:48] <cklady> I'm wondering what the rules are up there.
NC doesn't care a bit - I don't even need a licence here because I'm not
in city limits
[20:48] <ShirleyNV> To order wholesale, for resale.
[20:48] <cklady> What did you have to do to be legal Earlene
[20:49] <Earlene> After the bakery turned me in and I got
legal they haven't bothered anyone else
[20:49] <Dolores7> Earlene has a wonderful separate kitchen
[20:49] <Marida> Shirley, I wholesale from CK and Wilton and
I think I had to give them my tax ID number. I only use it for that since
we don't have amplyess.
[20:49] <Dolores7> maybe they learned in the school of hard
knocks Earlene LOL
[20:49] <Earlene> Seperate kitchen, triple sink, all the other
stuff. But you must have a separate kitchen here in TX
[20:49] <traciann> the reason i asked is because i work in a bank,
and people frequently ask for forms to apply for them, and lately i've
had people tell me they won't even give you one if you don't have employees...because
technically you can use your own social security number...
[20:49] <cklady> That's not a bad option - if we buy a house up
there, we'll be looking for someplace I can convert the basement into a
shop anyway.
[20:50] <Earlene> Right Dolores. Now I can do the Bridal shows,
advertise or whatever. So they haven't bothered anyone else
[20:50] <Dolores7> Some people say they want licensed people to
bring cakes in because otherwise they are libel...I don't know
[20:50] <Marida> Traciann, you are right. You can use your social
security number if you don't have employees. But, for some reason, CK Products
and Wilton both asked for it.
[20:50] <Dolores7> thats what they get
[20:51] <traciann> i guess i dont understand why you'd have
to have a TIN to order wholesale,,,because it's perfectly legal to operate
as a sole proprietor and use your own number...
[20:51] <cklady> I asked my bedridden sister-in-law to do
some calling for me ( she's trying NOT to have a baby too early). I'm curious
to see what she comes up with.
[20:51] <ShirleyNV> Triple sinks ???? I just wanted to price
them, and can't find them anywhere.... even on the net.
[20:51] <Dolores7> shirley...find 2nd hand bakery suppliers
[20:51] <Dolores7> Or look int he paper
[20:51] <LadyCakes> try Ebay
[20:51] <cklady> Lowes carries a double sink with a small addition
in the middle that would qualify - why triple sinks I wonder?
[20:52] <Earlene> We also had to get a special zoning variance
because we are in a residential area. But our neighbors went to bat for
us.
[20:52] <LynneCA1> shirley, look for triple bay
[20:52] dee is on IRC
[20:52] <MindyMc> ebay has them sometimes
[20:52] <traciann> oh ok...gotcha marida...now i see why that would
be a
problem..those companies obviously aren't familiar with the rules...LOL
[20:52] <cklady> Good old neighbors - you can bribe them with your
product! My neighbors love me for that!
[20:52] <Dolores7> what is triple bay?
[20:52] <LadyCakes> one for washing and two rinses
[20:52] <Earlene> We have to wash the stuff, rinse in clear water
and then rinse in a bleach water solution for sanitation
[20:52] <MindyMc> how much was that sink cklady at lowes?
[20:52] <cklady> Oh, you gotta wash your equipment??
[20:52] <ShirleyNV> Some places will not even send you a catolog
with out the TIN.
[20:52] <LynneCA1> why triple -- it's for restaurants who have meat.
The meat must only be cleaned in one compartment
[20:53] <cklady> Never priced it, just noticed it once.
[20:53] <ReneeS> can't you use a dishwasher instead?

[20:53] <MindyMc> the dishwasher has to have the rinse temperature
high enough to kill germs
[20:53] dee is on IRC
[20:53] <LynneCA1> yes, that's what i ment
[20:53] <Earlene> Can't get those great big pans in the dishwasher
[20:53] <MindyMc> or it has to have the chemicals in it
[20:53] <SandyKS> hI can't find my typeing line
[20:53] <MindyMc> I priced a 3 bowl sink this past weekend and it
was $1000
[20:54] <Dolores7> I paid $600.00 for my triple sink I think
[20:54] <MindyMc> and that was for the regular size kitchen size
with a small bowl in the middle
[20:54] <Dolores7> Then you must have a grease trap so you don't
plug up the city sewage : )
[20:54] <LadyCakes> you can get them cheaper used from restaurants
that have gone out of business
[20:54] <cklady> That's what I saw MindyMc
[20:54] <Earlene> I think I paid around that about when we bought
this one. $500
[20:54] <Dolores7> mine was in good shape - 2nd hand
[20:55] <MindyMc> this one would have to be special ordered is why
it was so high. I was hoping if the lumber yards stocked the 3 bowl sinks
that they would be cheaper
[20:55] <LynneCA1> here the sink must be a big as the biggest pan
you use -- that deep also and have an 18" drain board on both sides
[20:55] <ShirleyNV> We do have a resturant supply (USED) here, I'm
going to check them out in the morning.
[20:55] <Dolores7> Anyone getting a cake started for ICES this summer
yet???
[20:55] <Earlene> Even if you are on your own septic tank you still
have to have the grease trap
[20:55] <cklady> Could you install 2 sinks? A double and a single
close together?
[20:55] <MindyMc> I bet you can find all kinds of stuff there shirleynv
[20:55] <traciann> when is it time to start thinking about making
reservations for ices???
[20:55] <MindyMc> yes, I think you can cklady
[20:55] <Dolores7> guess it would stop up any plumbing
[20:56] <Earlene> Wish I could drive - I would have one ready. :
, (
[20:56] <Dolores7> It did mine...hubby said it was a strange yellow,
red, blue etc...and blamed ME LOL
[20:56] dee has left IRC
[20:56] <MindyMc> we were trying to figure out how to do that. If
you get a sink base, a piece of countertop, and a regular sink and a bar
sink, I think it will work
[20:56] <Dolores7> NOW traci
[20:56] <Dolores7> I must do my res soon...doing a demo there
[20:56] <ShirleyNV> I hopr , but I know I'll spend TOOOOOO much

need to double check the specific location...but i'm only an hour from
detroit so i was thinking of driving in each day...how early and late does
it (or can you) usually go...i guess i'm wondering if i wouldn't be happier
just staying there??
[20:57] <Earlene> I had to change mine - can't fly with the kitchen
sink this year. LOL
[20:58] <Dolores7> welll>>>can't see why anyone wants to see that
twice
[20:58] <Earlene> Buttercream stencils -
[20:58] <Dolores7> traci...fun to stay there tho...starts real early
for demos
[20:58] <Dolores7> things open...cake room etc at 9 usually
[20:59] <CarolAnnTX> I hate flying we,re driving.
[20:59] <Earlene> Oregan has already asked for that Grooms cake
demo again. I told them they would have to furnish a lot of stuff for me
to be able todo it up there
[20:59] <Marida> How soon do they know what the demos will be?
[20:59] <LynneCA1> traci, i know it's extra expense, but you miss
sooooooo much if you don't stay there. i did that the 1st time, went w/other
people and miss so much
[20:59] <Dolores7> thats good Earlene...newbies will love that.
[20:59] <SandyKS> traciann, you'll enjoy yourself a lot more if
you stay at the hotel. we have great slumber parties and learn a lot from
each other at nightl
[20:59] <Dolores7> You don't even have time to eat Traci
[20:59] <Earlene> I agree Lynne - you miss out on a lot if you don't
stay
[20:59] <Dolores7> I carry crackers in case LOL
[20:59] <traciann> good...i could stand a few days with no food!!
hehe
[21:00] <Marida> No, Dolores--your hubby buys you Ice Cream!
[21:00] <Earlene> Eat at a convention. Heaven forbid. That is why
we have two meal events - so our families won't think we starved. LOL
[21:00] <traciann> so last year i remember you all kinda arranged
for roomates and stuff like that?? who takes care of that?
[21:00] <Dolores7> LOL,,,as you discovered Marida...for my BD too
[21:00] <Marida> I'll never forget that one!
[21:01] <Dolores7> Traci...some ask on my message board and find

[21:01] <SandyKS> i take pop and dried apricots to survive on. no

[21:02] <Earlene> My hubby is planning on going this year too.
[21:02] <Dolores7> you'll RUN from one demo to the other...and the
vendors...and the cakes and...
[21:02] <traciann> you know what i wouldn't mind talking about some
night soon? unless anyone else objects...but i'd just like to spend some
time talking about what to expect there, etc....
[21:02] <Dolores7> Marida...hes still laughing too
[21:03] <Earlene> and the cakes and the demos and the vendors and

[21:03] <Dolores7> ROTFL
[21:03] <CarolAnnTX> I guess I spent too much money last time so,
we'll see ?
[21:03] <SandyKS> i wouldn't want to take my husband. he'd watch
the pocketbook too close. LOL
[21:03] <Earlene> We definetly must have time to visit with one
another and get names attached to faces
[21:04] <traciann> do you guys all usually stay at the same place???
[21:04] <Marida> The best part was meeting one another!!

[21:07] <TrishCA> ditto
[21:07] <Earlene> I made our reservations week before last and they
wanted to charge me more. SO be sure you tell them you are with the ICES
organization - and be prepared to explain what those letters mean
[21:07] <ShirleyNV> Do you have to be a member to attend the Convention?
[21:07] <Marida> The President of ICES is in our cake club--so is
another
of the officers.
[21:07] <Dolores7> It takes 2 months to get in the system and deadline
for early signup for the conv. is JUNE 1
[21:07] <LynneCA1> no way!!
[21:07] <Earlene> You don't have to be a member to go to convention
[21:07] <Dolores7> thanks Earlene
[21:08] <Dolores7> no but you will want to be a member
[21:08] <traciann> ok...well i'm going to sign up SOON!!! promise!!!
[21:08] <LynneCA1> usually membership cost is built in convention
fee if not already a mbr
[21:08] <Marida> I like seeing all the new stuff. Haven' tried
everything I bought last year--especially from Nickolas Lodge.
[21:08] <Dolores7> remember that this year Marida
[21:08] <traciann> sounds like i need to get a temporary second
job...cake orders aren't comign in as fast as i want them too! hehe
[21:09] <Earlene> You will go home with so much stuff in your brain
that it will be leaking out all the way home and you won't be able to remember
allyou saw and learned.
[21:09] <Marida> I am. I am hoping I can get George to go.
He is giving ademo on squaring up cakes tomorrow nite at our club meeting.
that is a bricklayer thing you know.
[21:09] <Dolores7> he'd love it
[21:09] <ReneeS> i'm coming Marida, I hope it's not too snowy!
[21:09] <SandyKS> take the cam corder along, marida, he might be
able to sell some videos
[21:09] <Earlene> By the way I still have some spaces in the class
that Nick will be teaching here next OCT. But not many if any of you are
interested
[21:10] <Dolores7> can't sell at ICES...
[21:10] <Marida> Renee--did you figure out where the meeting is?
That might be closer for you.
[21:10] <ReneeS> yes i got it, thanks
[21:10] <helen_oh> I remember when I first started going with Dolores---made
me dizzy
[21:10] <Dolores7> I STRONGLY recommend Nick's class to all!
[21:10] <Dolores7> Helen...thought she was in fairy land
[21:10] ShirleyNV is now known as ShirleyNV-will-be-right-back
[21:11] <Earlene> He is the best - and he says the facilities here
ar the best.
[21:11] <Dolores7> Here is something she wrote, but couldnt figure
out how to put on here fast enough:
[21:11] <traciann> dolores have you thought any more of getting
nick to come to ohio???
[21:11] <Marida> Dolores--I liked that guy outside of Creative Wedding
cutters who was from England. He almost talked that I DO Cakes pin off
of me but I lost it anyway.
[21:11] <Dolores7> Helen wanted me to copy/paste this to you all.
I've been trying to teach her
[21:11] <Dolores7> how to copy/paste but its a little soon so I'll
put on what she wanted to tell all of you:
[21:12] <Dolores7> I was always interested in cake decorating
and I took beginners and advanced but
[21:12] <Dolores7> the teacher did'nt teach much. My son got me
an offer to teach and I took
[21:12] <Dolores7> it. Then I got scared so I searched all over
the country for a teacher. I
[21:12] <Dolores7> found this woman who told me Dolores had more
talent in her little finger
[21:12] <Dolores7> than she had in her whole body.I found her and
took her advanced class.
[21:12] <Dolores7> it began this great adventure with Dolores, and
I found out she had a
[21:12] <Dolores7> lot of talent in her little finger and the rest
of them were not bad
[21:12] <Dolores7> either. A short version of my friendship many
years ago!!!!!!!
[21:12] <Earlene> You have to book Nick years ahead to get him in
your area.
[21:12] <Dolores7> Visit my website at http://my.voyager.net/icer
[21:12] <Dolores7> I found they were using terms I didn't
[21:12] <Dolores7> understand so Dolores suggested I take beginners
and advanced. So I took
[21:12] <Dolores7> beginner's one night, adv. one night, and taught
another night. It was gruesome but
[21:12] <Dolores7> thats HER web site...but will get a lot better
in the future
[21:12] <Dolores7> traci...I wish! But now I could couldn't I?
[21:13] <Earlene> Great Helen - you found a great teacher
[21:13] <Dolores7> I really think he is the best ever!
[21:13] <traciann> Go for it dolores!!!!!
[21:13] <Dolores7> My daughter Sue had never even touched gumpaste...and
she did every bit as well as I - even better I thought
[21:13] <Earlene> Dolores's daughter came last March to the
class with almost no GP knowledge and did great in his class
[21:14] <Earlene> LOL - birds of a feather
[21:14] <Dolores7> Just dedicated : )
[21:14] <Dolores7> Helen and I go back YEARS...we once drove 10
hours to the Philly candy show
[21:14] <Earlene> I just had a beginner class here and two of those
gals signed up for his class
[21:14] <Dolores7> stopped to see Darlene Horner along the way even
[21:14] <Earlene> How is she Dolores?
[21:15] <Dolores7> It really doesn't matter - your expertise...with
Nick
[21:15] <helen_oh> And never stopped TALKING !!!!!!
[21:15] <Dolores7> She is JUST fine Helen...come to ICES and see
her!
[21:15] <Dolores7> no, we talked our way there LOL
[21:15] <Earlene> This should be a great reunion year being the
25th show
[21:16] <Dolores7> sure will be...they sure did a great show last
time...I'm looking forward to it
[21:16] <SandyKS> I can't remember how to save this chat. what do
I do ladies?
[21:16] <Earlene> By the way they would love to have some written
memories sent to them for a special book. Send them to Betty Overman
[21:16] <Dolores7> sandy...right-click your mouse...you'll see
[21:16] <SandyKS> thanks Dolores7
[21:16] <Dolores7> choose LOGGING / enable
[21:17] <Dolores7> welcome
[21:17] <Earlene> They want some of those funny things, those trip
memories, those group things and etc.
[21:17] <Dolores7> the fun last year was meeting all our friends
ont he computer
[21:17] <SandyKS> my roommate handed out ear plugs ...she snored
so loud
[21:17] <Dolores7> Marida...have plenty of pins ready!
[21:17] <Earlene> Nearly missed that.
[21:17] <Earlene> LOL Sandy
[21:18] <Dolores7> right Earlene...I forgot what I was going to
tell them!
[21:18] <helen_oh> Earlene--you mean like when Doloreswould haul
ten peoplein a van???
[21:18] <Marida> Hey, Dolores, our president, Kim Fess, says that
is illegal!! I just bought them for you, Earlene, Lynne and Barbara and
then got bombarded with requests for them. I might bring a few for my friends.
[21:18] <Dolores7> me???
[21:19] <Earlene> Or making flowers in a motor home on the way home
because of an order that went out in three days.
[21:19] <Dolores7> you are right Marida...I know
[21:19] <traciann> says what is illegal???
[21:19] <Dolores7> to sell if you don't have a booth
[21:19] <Marida> To sell pins at the convention. I didn't do that
anyway.
[21:19] <traciann> oh...gotcha...
[21:19] <Earlene> Hey we loved them - and so did everyone else -
they wanted ours
[21:20] <traciann> yeah...cuz you sold them afterwards, right?
[21:20] <SandyKS> just sell them afterwards over the e-mail like
you did this year.
[21:20] <Dolores7> did I do that helen?
[21:20] <SandyKS> I love my pin
[21:20] <TrishCA> How many days is convention?
[21:20] <Marida> I had a lot of requests for them and am still getting
inquiries.
[21:20] <Dolores7> can't sell at ICES...SO many people would be
doing it and it would get NO fun quick
[21:20] <Earlene> We go on Tuesday and don't come back until the
following Monday
[21:20] <Dolores7> Thurs - Sunday night...officially LOL
[21:21] <Dolores7> we start on Monday or Tuesday
[21:21] <Earlene> To much to do, see, talk, visit, talk, and talk.
[21:21] <helen_oh> I could tell good stories if Iwould remember??????
[21:21] <LynneCA1> traci, be sure to stay for sunday nite sharing!!
that's a must!
[21:21] <SandyKS> my daughter is waiting for the computer so I'd
better say good night.
[21:21] <Dolores7> There are wonderful tours...thats how I really
got to know Darlene Horner...on a bus for an hour
[21:21] <Earlene> Night Sandy
[21:21] SandyKS [kdswart@dial-12-32-23-69.bluevalley.net] has quit
IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[21:22] <CarolAnnTX> It's a real pretty neat pin, I love mine.
[21:22] <Dolores7> And Georgina Johnson and many others
[21:22] <Earlene> Even standing in line. You just take the time
to meet a new decorator.
[21:22] <Marida> My husband wants to go to the one in Nashville.
We have been there before.
[21:22] <Dolores7> a great pin! I still have mine too
[21:22] <Dolores7> right...everyone talks and is so nice
[21:22] <LynneCA1> oh yes, so do i still have mine
[21:22] <Dolores7> We'll be figuring our something to wear so we'll
know each other - soon
[21:22] <Marida> Lynne, can you come this year?
[21:23] ShirleyNV-will-be-right-back is now known as ShirleyNV
[21:23] <LynneCA1> don't know for sure. depends on how much
i spend on mini classes in june
[21:23] <ShirleyR> wb Shirley
[21:23] <Dolores7> hope you can Lynne...haven't seen you in years!
[21:23] <Marida> How ar away is that for you?
[21:23] <LynneCA1> i'm trying to decide if it's cheaper to drive
or fly :)
[21:24] <CarolAnnTX> How about a special t shirt on a certain day.
[21:24] <Dolores7> other end of the USA Marida
[21:24] <Dolores7> fly Lynne
[21:24] <LynneCA1> right dolores
[21:25] <Dolores7> I think we better wear a pin or something
[21:25] <Earlene> I was standing in line in Hershey, PA I think.
So I struck up a conversation with the woman and her son in front of me.
They were first timers and we were chatting about all of the things they
had to look forward to at the show. I asked them their names and then they
asked mine. I thought they were going into a panic. They said I was famous.
LOL Wanted to know what I was doing in line. I told them at ICES we are
all equals, beginners, ba
[21:25] <Dolores7> It would take 3 days to get there driving Lynne
[21:25] <Earlene> decorators and etc. We are all there to learn.
[21:25] <Marida> Dolores-- can you find some place like you did
last year for us to meet? Some people actually missed that also. Maybe
we figured it out too late.
[21:25] Kitty has left IRC
[21:25] <traciann> doesn't everyone wear some type on name tag or
something at least??
[21:25] <Dolores7> LOL...Earlene...that happened to me too...I got
in the elevator with my cake and there was BKeith. He goes "Dolores McCann!!"
[21:25] <Earlene> Maybe we can get Jeannie or Ruth to suggest a
place for us to meet. I will try to remember to email them this week and
ask
[21:25] KITTY is on IRC
[21:26] <Earlene> Right traciann after you register
[21:26] <LynneCA1> i know it would take at least 3 days, but i can
take soooo much more and bring more back. if several of us share driving
etc it might not be so bad
[21:26] <Dolores7> YES...we must just start earlier this time marida...need
someone to tell us a good meeting place tho I think...who knows the hotel
[21:26] KITTY has left IRC
[21:26] <Marida> I think that would be easier then trying to wear
something special. if we set a time we could all be there. tht is what
we did a couple of times last year.
[21:27] <Earlene> A must is to pack an empty fold up piece of luggage
for taking all the extra stuff back with you
[21:27] <Dolores7> good idea Earlene...do that - great
[21:27] kitty is on IRC
[21:27] <Dolores7> true Maida...we have so much junk on you can't
see a pin LOL
[21:27] <Dolores7> I'm going to bring that roll-cart from last year.
That was the best!
[21:28] <Earlene> If you and I and anyone else who has a web site
puts the same location and time down then maybe we can actually find one
another
[21:28] <Marida> There are about 50 of those pins out there but
not all of them will be coming to ICES.
[21:28] <traciann> good idea dolores!!
[21:28] kitty has left IRC
[21:28] <traciann> marida, are the pins still available??
[21:28] <Earlene> Mine was so loaded I broke a wheel. :<(
[21:28] <Dolores7> that is a super idea Earlene! Lets say we decide
within 2-3 months instead of waiting...just need the meeting place
[21:28] <TrishCA> I But after gas a extra milage on your car...flying
would be cheaper and faster
[21:29] Kitty is on IRC
[21:29] <TrishCA> I would think Lynne
[21:29] <Marida> No, I probably can get a few more if you all want
them. I don't want to seel them at convention, though. I have had a few
people email me so I could order a few more. They are really nice pins.
[21:29] <Dolores7> people would SEE that pin...strangers came up
to me and asked me where I got it all the time
[21:29] <Earlene> I will email Jeannie and Ruth next week and see
if they can get it scheduled for us early
[21:29] <ReneeS> go thru Priceline.com , we got coast to coast tickets
for $170
[21:29] <Earlene> Maybe they can even find a room for us
[21:29] <ReneeS> we swear by Priceline, never get tickets elsewhere
again
[21:29] <Dolores7> traci...and helen...driving is cheapest for us
[21:30] <Marida> Renee-- are you planning on going to ICES this
year?
[21:30] <ReneeS> yes, Marida
[21:30] <ReneeS> sometime in august right?
[21:30] <Dolores7> oops traci in Cincy left already
[21:30] <traciann> well i surely wouldn't fly!! i'd spend longer
at the airport!!
[21:30] <Earlene> Driving is better if you are close enough - especially
if you buy much. Just to far for some of us to drive this year
[21:30] <traciann> oh...hehe!!!!
[21:30] <CarolAnnTX> Those carts are neat I filled mine up a couple
of times, Carolyn and just stuff things in where they would fit,
[21:30] <traciann> sorry dolores
[21:30] Kitty has left IRC
[21:31] <Dolores7> go to www.ices.org and you can see all dates,
forms for the show etc.
[21:31] kitty is on IRC
[21:31] notme is on IRC
[21:31] <Dolores7> its only about 4 hours for me I think
[21:31] <Earlene> It would be two days for us
[21:31] notme has left IRC
[21:31] <Dolores7> I saw she was gone traci...but I wish it was
so close for you!
[21:31] <Marida> August 10-13.
[21:31] <ReneeS> thanks
[21:32] <Earlene> The next three years are all a long ways away
[21:32] <Dolores7> Detroit will be a good place for tours too.
[21:32] <TrishCA> I'll have to check out priceline , Rennee,,,thanks!
[21:32] notme is on IRC
[21:32] kitty has left IRC
[21:32] <traciann> marida...should i email you if i'm interested

[21:32] <LynneCA1> agreeded trish
[21:32] <Earlene> She is the only one who has them traciann
[21:33] <Earlene> They are beautiful.
[21:33] <Dolores7> I still have that pict. of the pin on if you
all want me to post it again?
[21:33] <Marida> Yeah, Traci-do that. I will call and order a dozen
or so tomorrow so I will have them before convention.
[21:33] <ReneeS> trishCA, find out what the going rates are , (like
at cheaptickets) and then undercut that on priceline
[21:33] <Marida> Dolores--go ahead and do it and then I will order
some before convention. thanks. you are a doll.
[21:33] <sgr> ShirleyR, just got back are you logging
[21:33] <Dolores7> ok
[21:33] <ShirleyR> yes jean I am

[21:34] Kitty is on IRC
[21:34] <traciann> yes dolores--i would like to see a pic...i don't
recall seeing one before!
[21:34] <Marida> It is going to be in DC in a few years--you all
come—come to my house?
[21:34] <LynneCA1> renee, do you have to book way ahead to get those
good prices?
[21:34] <traciann> marida....count me in as reservation #1
[21:34] <ShirleyR> ok Dolores7 ..will do!
[21:34] <Dolores7> ok Marida...fun!
[21:35] <ReneeS> no, got one 1 week before my fly date!

LOL
[21:35] <Marida> Okay, Traci, I will. I hope I saved the inquires
Ihavegotten the last couple of weeks.
[21:35] <ReneeS> she's got a nice big house too, i''ll vouch for
that!
[21:35] <traciann> lynne.as far as i understand priceline, you tell
themwhat you want to pay, then they tell you if it's ok...but if they agree, then
you MUST buy..you can't back out...does that sound right renee?
[21:35] <Dolores7> Helen...are you going????
[21:35] notme has left IRC
[21:36] <traciann> oh marida...i meant i'd reserve a room at your
house!!!hehe!! but i'll reserve a pin too...hehe
[21:36] <Marida> Before we moved to where we are so I could get
legal, wewere right across the bridge from where the convention will be.
I'd love tohave you come.
[21:36] <LynneCA1> traci is going to have lots of company in august
:)
[21:36] <ReneeS> yes, that is and you can't go in real low and keep
uppingit if they don't accept , you can only do it once for one date anddestination
[21:36] Kitty has left IRC
[21:36] <ReneeS> if they turn you down you have to change either
your datesor airport destination
[21:37] <traciann> lynne...hehe...i'm actually thinking of stayingthere..for
convenience...

[21:54] <MindyMc> thursday morning
[21:55] <MindyMc> or they did last year anyway.
[21:55] <TrishCA> So it really is 4 full days

[21:55] <traciann> i dont't get a newsletter yet :-(
[21:56] <TrishCA> OKay so once you get your membership stuff done
and pay your convention fee...are classes on top of your convention fee?
[21:56] <traciann> oh jeannie i sure will!!! i'
[21:56] <sgr> thank-you
[21:56] <MindyMc> I sure will too jeanie.
[21:57] <MindyMc> no, after you pay the registration fee to get
into the convention, that's it. the demos are free
[21:57] <sgr> you are all so kind....thanks
[21:57] <ShirleyR> jean you're already on my prayer list....hope
everything goes well for you
[21:57] <TrishCA> Same here kid...your in my thought especially

my breathing...lol
[21:58] <MindyMc> oh my, don't say that jean. :-)
[21:58] <MindyMc> that's if you can get them trish.
[21:59] Kitty is on IRC
[21:59] <sgr> I would be so wonderful to be able to even sit in
on one of their classes
[21:59] <sgr> I suppose you have to book a seat well ahead of time
for each class
[21:59] <MindyMc> you fill out the form on which classes you want
in the order of how you want them, they fill them as they get the registration
fees.
[21:59] <traciann> jeannie!! don't do that....everything will be
just fine!!! i know i've said it before but to worry will do you no good!!
Even though i'm sure i'd do the same!! just keep your chin up dearie!!
[21:59] <MindyMc> the earlier you send in your registration, the
better chance you have of getting the classes you want
[22:00] <TrishCA> any idea when reg. started?
[22:00] <MindyMc> probably now, if they have the form on the web
site.
[22:00] <sgr> thanks Traci
[22:00] <traciann> i'm surprised there isn't some kind of master
schedule on their website...i've looked but don't find one...maybe they
send it when i send the money??
[22:01] <sgr> do they have prices up for anything yet
[22:01] <MindyMc> I'm checking the newsletters
[22:01] <traciann> yes jeannie...registration is $105 for members
early bird...hotel is $118 per night at the main hotel
[22:02] <sgr> is the hotel per rm. or per person in each room
[22:02] <MindyMc> they have the registration in the Dec issue
[22:02] <traciann> it's per room
[22:02] <MindyMc> but they still don't have the list of the demos
[22:02] <sgr> is the convention at that part. hotel
[22:02] <traciann> um...yes i'm pretty sure..
[22:03] <MindyMc> the way it talks, its connected to the convention
center
[22:03] <sgr> that is certainly a big city for me, to be left alone
in.LOL
[22:04] <traciann> you won't be alone jeannie!! we'll be there to
look after you!
[22:04] <TrishCA> Jean I'm sorry but for the millionth time....where
are you from?
[22:04] <sgr> gotta find my way out of the air-port first.LOL
[22:04] <traciann> NB Canada!!!
[22:04] <traciann> is that right jeannie???
[22:04] <traciann> or do i have you confused with susan?
[22:04] <TrishCA> You've got Traci and me and all the board friends
to help you out Jean
[22:05] <sgr> New Brunswick, Canada, right Traci
[22:05] <sgr> our Walmart is probably as big as our air-port>LOL
[22:05] <traciann> hehe!!!
[22:05] <TrishCA> That's right Canada
[22:06] <traciann> i'm getting way too excited
[22:06] <MindyMc> I didn't have any luck finding the 3 bowl sink.
I'll look some more tomorrow
[22:06] <TrishCA> I'm way ahead of you girl......
[22:06] <sgr> why a 3 bowl sink Mindy?
[22:06] <MindyMc> to get legal
[22:06] <traciann> oh my head is just spinning
[22:07] <ShirleyR> ok Mindy..thanks
[22:07] <sgr> what is a 3 bowl sink?
[22:07] <traciann> jeannie have you ever been to a convention before?
[22:07] Hunter is on IRC
[22:07] <MindyMc> you guys have a long time to wait. You're going
to be a mess by the time it gets herre
[22:07] <sgr> no I haven't Traciann, last yrs. was the first I heard
about them
[22:07] <MindyMc> like a regular sink but it has 3 bowls for water
instead of 2
[22:07] dee is on IRC
[22:07] Hunter has left IRC
[22:07] <TrishCA> your probaly right Mindy..lol
[22:07] <sgr> uh huh, do you need a grease trap
[22:08] <MindyMc> that's what they were saying tonight. what is
a grease trap
[22:08] <traciann> well the registration fee includes a breakfast
Friday morning, and a saturday banquet..which if you buy seperate tickets
for those they're $25 and $45...must be some meals i hope!!!
[22:08] <TrishCA> I have no idea
[22:08] hunter is on IRC
[22:08] dee has left IRC
[22:08] <MindyMc> the breakfast wasn't that great. but the sat night
meal was very good
[22:09] <sgr> guess it attaches under your sink somehow and holds
all the grease there, not sure my husband was explaining it to me, almost
had one free, just missed it
[22:09] <traciann> maybe we could skip the breakfast and go to mc'd's
trish for $25 less...hehe
[22:09] <traciann> oooh jeannie..that's too bad!
[22:09] <MindyMc> how does the grease get into the trap?
[22:09] <TrishCA> I think that $105 is a great price for all they
aregiving you....the airfare and the hotel would be my biggest expense
outside of purchases made there
[22:10] <traciann> i think it's a good deal too!! but it's $160
if you register after july 15th
[22:10] <TrishCA> YUk...Trish doesn't much care for the eggMc'muffin...lol
[22:10] <MindyMc> yes it is trish. and on the demos, if you don't
get the ones you want, or have a time free and theres someone you want
to see, you can wait outside the door and if there are any seats left,
you can go in
[22:10] <sgr> not sure Mindy, whether it seperates and the water
goes down the drain and the grease stays so it can't clogg the pipes, yours
or the cities
[22:11] <MindyMc> the convention center in Detroit is suppose to
have a bunch of places to eat right close so you might be able to go out
with any trouble
[22:11] hunter has left IRC
[22:11] <MindyMc> at KC, there wasn't anything around,. shopping
or eating places. you had to drive if you wanted to do anything
