<traciep>   no margo, the diamond is gone.  so unless they can replace it in the next day or so, no ring for the wedding.
[Dolores7]   Hi Beth
<margo_>   yes I did,  I'll talk to you tomarrow about it ok??
<BethA>   Hello Everyone
<traciep>   ok margo
<KampyCake>   traciep, what happened to the diamond?
<SugarGirlie>   here's a question: if i want to make a fondant figure like something from a chocolate mould how can i get it to pop out of the mould? i've tried cornstarch, freezing it etc. and nothing seems to work
<KampyCake>   Hi Beth
<traciep>   CarolAnnTX - that sounds like a goo d idea for the cones.
[Dolores7]   TONIGHT'S CHAT IS REALLY UP TO YOU ALL. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO DISCUSS ABOUT ROLLED FONDANT OR GUMPASTE?
<margo_>   I figured out what was wrong with those cones I made traciep ,  I mixed two types of chocolate.
<traciep>   marie, my diamond fell out of my engagement ring sometime friday. it gone.  hows that for timing.  so i might not have it back for the wedding.
<traciep>   what flavor should i add to the wilton fondant for my wedding cake this weekend?
[Dolores7]   LOVED THE CAKE ON THE MESSAGE BOARD TONIGHT BY ROBIN
<margo_>   traciep  did you have insurance??
*** Signoff: ReneeS (reneelschl@AC8B34C4.ipt.aol.com) has left IRC [Read error: Connection timed out]
<CarolAnnTX>   chocolate cover crispy treats shaped in the jello egg mold, put the cone and top part together with melted chocolated dipped the whole top in sprinkles.
<traciep>   yes, the insurance will cover it, but it's jsut bad timing.
[Dolores7]   Oh Tracie...thats awful. Mine fell out once. I found it in front of the bed. I'll never forget it.
<MindyMo>   sorry guys,  had more trick or treaters and company
<KampyCake>   I'm sorry traci, but do you have a separate wedding ring to use?
<traciep>   i had to melt every piece of chocolate i had made that day and strain it.
[Dolores7]   oh gosh! That was a job!
<MindyMo>   Marie,  you're sure welcome to come over and buy all my stuff at the craft show.  I have visions of me hauling everything home after  it's over
<traciep>   the band is really small.  it fits under the other ring.  some frineds have offered to let me borrow their sets if i don't get mine back
<traciep>   mindy, everything will sell!!!!!
<CarolAnnTX>   those kids went crazy, we made 12 to see if they were going to sell, should have made more, maybe for Christmas.
<MindyMo>   I sure hope so
<SugarGirlie>   did anybody see my question!?!
<KampyCake>   I hope you sell out before noon and can go home and take a nap
<traciep>   those cones sell like crazy
*** ReneeS (reneelschl@AC8B34C4.ipt.aol.com) has joined channel #cakedecorators
<MindyMo>   on the cones Carol Ann.  you made 12 with rice krispie treats inside and they sold really well???
<KampyCake>   I don't know how to get fondant out of a mold
<traciep>   i've got 150 cones made up and waiting.
<margo_>   SugarGirlie , I don't know the answer so I left it alone
<KampyCake>   unless you would grease the mold good
<traciep>   i've done fondant in the mold.
<CarolAnnTX>   the kids l9oved them
[Dolores7]   Sugar...I think you need to stiffen it - and use gumpaste, not fondant
<MindyMo>   that sure sounds good to me Marie.  I'm sure I'll be needing a nap
<SugarGirlie>   but the fondant piece just breaks as i try to pop it out...maybe i should add some gum trag first?
<traciep>   i always leave an extra culmp in the back, kinda like a handle, to pull it back out.  then just take a knife and cut that extra off.
<SugarGirlie>   ok thanks Dolores
<SugarGirlie>   thanks traciep
[Dolores7]   Or you can also pour it out of chocolate then dress it in gumpaste clothes...or chocolate leather/clay - whatever we call it.
<MindyMo>   how much did you sell them for Carol Ann
<KampyCake>   are you leting the fondant harden in the mold?
[Dolores7]   Keeps a long time. I've had one for over 10 years and it is in good condition
<CarolAnnTX>   1 dollar each
<SugarGirlie>   yes i even tried leaving it for days but no luck
<traciep>   i pull it right out of the mold.
[Dolores7]   don't leave it in the mold
<margo_>   I'm going to sell mine for $2 each
<MindyMo>   did yo have any problems getting the rice krispie treats out of the jello egg molds?
[Dolores7]   Fondant doesn't get hard enough to make figures from. Id use gumpaste of coating choc....tinted flesh

<margo_>   dolores doesn't anwer phones her calls are screened  :)
<traciep>   didn't think about that margo.  i don't think it will be a problem if i let the first layer dry.

[Dolores77]   I would if someone else organized it for sure. I feel like I don't have time to think lately

<traciep>   gingerbread in July?
<margo_>   anything your little heart desires.  LOl
[Dolores77]   wellll...we need a traveling teach...Earlene maybe????
[Dolores77]   Sure...but we better not do that in July...I have no time then...family stuff...fam. reunion etc
<traciep>   i think everyone on this board is an expert at one thing or another.  everyone could do a demo
<margo_>   not me
[Dolores77]   We need to do this in about March or something
*** sgr (proy@usr1sj44.brunnet.net) has joined channel #cakedecorators
[Dolores77]   hi Jean
<margo_>   hi sgr
<SandyKS>   you don't need to be an expert to demo. you just need to throw out an idea and everyone brainstorms.  It's fun.
[Dolores77]   Thats a brilliant idea tracie!
<sgr>   Hi Dolores, Hi all
[Dolores77]   I suppose I do a wedding cake????
<traciep>   carolann can do cones, mindy can do craft show hints, etc.
[Dolores77]   Helenoh her mints...Lisa in OH candies
<Saydee>   marie can do how to put foot in mouth :)
[Dolores77]   oops..they'll read this LOL
[Dolores77]   LOL
<margo_>   I'll do Dice  !!
<Saydee>   you still here marie??  she'll understand
[Dolores77]   of course margo
<SugarGirlie>   Here's another question: if you come up with a totally new design, like a way of doing something you've never seen in wedding cake books before, should you protect that design? I'm worried another designer might see this and put it in their book...what do you all think?
<margo_>   i sent traciep  her 300
<CarolAnnTX>   any thing goes, something simple , even experts could use a little reviewing
<SandyKS>   I think she's taling to a bride on the phone, Marie, that is
[Dolores77]   Sugar....no way to protect...keep it to yourself and write in a book and sell it before anyone else knows about it.
<traciep>   300 what?
<margo_>   dice remember???
[Dolores77]   Like HeatherLee with her cold porcelain recipe...and the CD she is doing
<traciep>   oh yeah.   ROFL
<SugarGirlie>   ok Dolores but what if you have nothing else to put in a book!? lol!
[Dolores77]   You could copyright if in a book
<CarolAnnTX>   I heard that one, see I'm no chicken
<margo_>   wouldn't you just die???
[Dolores77]   I don't knoooow
<traciep>   i can see it.  i'll get to the hall and have all these dice sitting at the table.   LOL
[Dolores77]   Sugar...couldn't you fix it up someway to make money on it?
<MindyMo>   has anyone here made cream cheese vanilla fudge?  I tried the recipe from that skarpps candy page and it didn't quite turn out right.
[Dolores77]   margo is going to pay for that dice someday!!!!!!!
<margo_>   on the table, on the floor, hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom  EVERYWHERE   LOL
[Dolores77]   Mindy...must you refrigerate that?
[Dolores77]   right margo
<MindyMo>   the cream cheese didn't melt like I thought it would and there's little lumps of cream cheese in it
<MindyMo>   I don't think so Dolores
<SugarGirlie>   i suppose i could sell instructions on a website, but people would just figure it out anyways, or trade the info, right?
<traciep>   SugarGirlie -how about an insert you sell to a cake decorating magazine or something like that?
<MindyMo>   the cream cheese is mixed in with the boiling sugar and evap milk
[Dolores77]   tracie...at most she'll get $500.00 I think...thats what ACD oferred us once
<SugarGirlie>   i don't know...i'll have to think about it :)
<margo_>   MindyMo , sometimes when I use cream cheese, I'll get lumps also, then others no lumps.. I think it has to do with how fresh is the cream cheese.
<MindyMo>   do you make fudge with it Margo
[Dolores77]   Does anyone here remember the time that Donna Horn thought up the neato things to do with wafer paper and WOWED us at ICES...and we all bought the book?
<MindyMo>   I just bought the cream cheese last week
<margo_>   no this is with other items
<SugarGirlie>   i did the design for a model cake for upcoming bridal shows...i'm not worried about showing it there but i am worried about putting the pic on my website, just in case
<MindyMo>   do you think I should of creamed the cream cheese first with the mixer
<Saydee>   wouldn't hurt mindy
<margo_>   Yes I think that would have help.
[Dolores77]   keep it to yourself or it will be copied all over the world the way things travel fast now
<SugarGirlie>   ok then i will Dolores...thank you
<traciep>   how about teaching a design class?
<MindyMo>   I want to get this recipe figured out.  there's a lady that makes it and people was asking me for it at the craft show I did last year
<CarolAnnTX>   was it the rocking horse(standing up)?
<MindyMo>   is there a cream cheese flavored loran oil?
<SugarGirlie>   i'm pretty new to this, and 99% self taught even though i'm pretty darn good! i doubt anyone would want to take a class from me
[Dolores77]   Sugar...maybe you could add more designs using your concept in dif. ways and make it enough for a small book. Then go in with someone at ICES - in a booth and sell the book
<Saydee>   mindy, at least soften it good.  maybe in the mw
[Dolores77]   Hee hee...Carol Ann
[Dolores77]   CarolA...did you go to the OK show?
<SugarGirlie>   yes that's a good idea Dolores...i guess a book doesn't need 40 cakes...6 or 8 would do...
<SandyKS>   I've been looking for cream cheese flavoring for half a year and haven't found any yet, Mindy.
<MindyMo>   it was at room temperature.  it makes me mad.  I thought I was done with making fudge but I'm not going to be able to sell this I don't think
<SugarGirlie>   it would just be a cheap book!
[Dolores77]   Sugar...like I said...Donna Horn...she doesn't have many pictures...but a LOT of instructions
[Dolores77]   LOL...we pay anything for books at ICES!
<MindyMo>   I got 25 pounds of fudge made today
<CarolAnnTX>   Everyones talking a bout something  different I don't know, uncover the mystery
<SugarGirlie>   well i look at my design books by colette et als and my work looks that good, so i guess you never know!
[Dolores77]   CarolAnn...speed reading tests is what it is LOL
<CarolAnnTX>   No, I didn't go to the show
[Dolores77]   bet it was a great show
<Saydee>   do you have a web site sug girlie?
