The first part of this is from another interesting chat I attended on a previous night.
We were talking about a new lilly maker set. It is now pictured on my GUMPASTE page:

<sgr> I had a friend pick it up for me in the U.S. the container just says gold dust 24kt.

[Dolores77] Are you mixing it with lemon extract or something...or painting it on dry?

<sgr> I tried the vodka, it doesn't go on that great needs a couple of coats to get it looking smooth at all

<sgr> Also tried an atomizer everything ran to the outside,but it did cover good where it stayed

[Dolores77] I never did try that. I tried lemon extract and it does fine but is time consuming.

<sgr> "Very" time consuming

[Dolores77] atomizer...I guess the airbrush would do it...saw they were talking about this on the message board awhile back

<sgr> I think Mindy said someone tried it with their airbrush and didn't get very good results, the atomizer kept plugging up

[Dolores77] I cheat...I drop a drop or two of cooking oil in a tiny dish and then the gold dust and paint like that-VERY fast

[Dolores77] I didn't read all those notes...wish I had now

[Dolores77] ---but oil mixed, doesn't ever dry

<sgr> that's how I use the vodka

[Dolores77] oil is really easy...but if you touch it it makes a mess and must be touched up...covers easy

<pwdsugar> When you guys are making those larger flowers like the orchids if you put them together wet they will be more realistic and fit together much better

<sgr> that's great, after I finish all my roses & bows I'll try an orchid

<sgr> do you just use water or gum glue

[Dolores77] My orchids broke when I used Wilton orchid cutters and put together wet

<pwdsugar> You need to wire each of the petals and then they won't be so fragile

<MindyMc> that's how I did it, except for the throat of the orchid. I didn't go by in the instructions. LOL

[Dolores77] I always use water because gum glue spoils!

<pwdsugar> What I call gum glue now is a mixture of gumpaste and piping gel and I use that to repair broken petals.

<pwdsugar> The decorators at the convention center put the carpet down. Bettercream's crew along with Sherri Elder did the plane

<maimee> wow that must have been something to see!

<pwdsugar> We had a real mess around that Madam - A REAL BIG MESS

[Dolores77] it was a real cute display. Made the newspaper I saw.

<pwdsugar> That project was a giant problem solving from start to finish.

[Dolores77] who was in charge of Madam - Pwd?

[Dolores77] Madam Pompadour was a sculptured cake life-sized

<pwdsugar> They had a maniquin for the body but we weren't supposed to actually get icing on the maniquin. Betty Van Norstrand and Gloria Griffin were put in charge of that. I turned that down but agreed to help with it. I had to big a load here at home to worry with that project.

[Dolores77] oh gosh! I'm glad I took pictures. When they come back I will share them online if I can

<pwdsugar> If you have checked my web page lately you know what I had going out right before convention and right after convention. I was on overload and I did say NO for a change

<pwdsugar> I have a few step by steps now and hopefully some of the others will send me some of their photos and then I will share them with all of you later

TIME LIMIT: This is the length of time your ISP allows you to remain online without disconnecting you. Apparently when we are on IRC, there is nothing to tell our ISP that we are doing anything. I must look like we have been innactive all that time. The way to remedy this is to open NETSCAPE, EXPLORER or AOL, whichever you are using...and 'do something' everyso often. This way you won't be kicked off. You can simply open another page or anything, to prevent being kicked offline. IF you DO get kicked off-line, close & open IRC fresh, so you can use your same name.

BELOW: They weren't really 'signing off' - for some reason everyone got kicked out but Trish & me. I had JUST crashed and gotten back on. I found that if I crashed, the best thing to do is to exit clear out of IRC, then go back in. This way you can use your regular NAME you'd been using before. Otherwise (as you'll see here), IRC assigns you a dif. name. You won't want to be called 'Guest1234' You will see all of them coming back in on down the page. LOL.

<pwdsugar> I have some good friends who have been married about 12 years. Adopted three and the oldest is now 9 and they just had a little miracle baby born last week. They were thrilled.
