Hello MC Fleet 45,
If you’re like me, about this time of year you start craving 15 degrees of heel in your life, a horseshoe of spray blasting into your face, the sounds of ratchets whirling, rigging taking the loads of the wind and sea, and of course - a wet bottom!
Just a few Fleet notes at this time:
* In case you missed the MC Fleet winter dinner or had to leave early: Michael Graham was awarded the Fleet Captain’s 2004 Most Improved Skipper’s award.
* At the MC winter dinner no one volunteered to serve as the 2005 MC Fleet captain so you are stuck with me again! My company, Luxottica Retail, is in the process of an acquisition. I will be very happy if I am able to sail my usual 30 to 40 CLSA weekend races in 2005. I doubt that I will have much time to get the weekly race write-ups published on the MC Fleet web page, so I am hoping that you will email your ups, downs, and discoveries on the race course to me. I will probably need more volunteer help than in the past for special events.
* On Friday, February 18th, I did manage to get out of work early and I made a trip out to Cowan Lake. All of the MC lifts looked good to me EXCEPT the lifts in dock spaces #131 and #91. I have seen MCs on lift #131 in the past, but I am not sure if anyone is currently assigned to that dock. Lift #91 has had an MC on it in the past, but I am not sure who it belongs to. On Friday the lake was about two feet below spring level.
* Sometime in March I expect to update the MC Fleet 45 web page ( http://members.nuvox.net/~zt.weilerp/ ) with the latest fleet info, dates, etc.
* If you haven’t paid your 2005 MC National Organization dues, please consider the $25 fee. You can even pay online at the MC National web site (http://www.mcscow.org ). On the main web page there is a link to vote. You can both renew and/or vote from this link. At this time, your vote will help determine if the MC class will adopt or will not adopt the use of hand held radios.

2005 MC Fleet 45 Captain
